Judy - I think your doctor at least noticed the tight neck and plagio at that is a major accomplishment in itself it seems!! 8 months is still good timing, though 6 would have been better. Many of us have started much later and gotten good results. Many have worse stories to tell or would even appreciate a doctor recommending any correction rather than the same old "it will round out." I would ask for a referral for a pt evaluation for the neck and get professional pt going. Will only help along the plagio and you'll be amazed how that pt person can help you make sure Genna stays on track! You can help educate him along the way with the torticollis and help him spot and correct it earlier with someone else. I know my family practice doctor has learned about tort from me and has asked questions. He has been so happy with 's head and treatment so I only hope that helps some other little baby along the way! Tammy & 12/8/99

Pretty good! Have had the band off since Monday because of an ear infection and fever. I've spent the last two days trying to keep it on. Amazing how he can wiggle out of that band and it isn't loose. I kind of wonder if the Amoxicillion isn't taking care of the ear infection. This is only number two but my gut says his ears still aren't right. He never tugs at his ears but played with his head more, hitting and hair pulling kind of stuff. I really only notice that more a meal times maybe because I hate the thought of food in his hair! Oh, the joys! Can tell improvement in the facial asymmetry and feel that the roundness in the back of his head is pretty much the same on both sides. We are still a little wider/shorter on one wide yet. I'm also thinking 3-4 weeks yet in this band and then done. Not going to do a third band and settle for what we get. I'll do a couple more craniosacral therapy sessions after out of the band and don't plan on continuing. Our last little bit of tilt that we've had the last few months seems to have passed, hopefully for good. Actually will be interesting to see how if any tilting haunts us in the future like when sick! Been a long road and looking forward to an end soon. That goes for winter too. Been a long Wisconsin winter and sick of it!!!!

Sue - I myself see a message therapist for myself, way cool! Isn't all the relax type thing we often think of but a deep and often not the most pleasant message since I have a lot tight muscles. Has saved me from surgery on my foot and been so physically beneficial.

Ask the craniosacral therapist person if they could do a little bit on you.

They rest both their hands (brief description here) behind your neck/base of head or one hand at base of neck and one on your tail bone area. They call it the craniosacral rhythm. Anyway, really cool. If you could feel that sensation it would really help your understanding. Let me know how it goes and if they do it for you. I really haven't tried this for myself since more spendy than just getting a message.

Tammy:

Glad to hear that the Starband is doing such a good job for . I am seeing someone next week regarding craniosacral therapy (for a quick 10 minute talk)...not for us, but just to know a bit about him in case someone in our area is interested in helmet/DOC band options. I was at a retreat last weekend and we had a session on meditation. This lady is a "spiritual healer" but mentioned craniosacral therapy so I talked to her about it. She recommended a DO and a massage therapist in my area. I never knew about cranialsacral until you mentioned it last year.

It seems like I keep meeting people with plagio and I just want to know what the options actually are in our area. I still haven't found an orthodist who has done the Starband yet. Anyway, hope is better soon.
