This is exactly why I love this group! I can come you all and I can

get sympathy and solutions to my problems! There's no better feeling

than to hear " I understand " Or " I know what you and your child are

going through " I can't even begin to thank you all for you nice and

helpful comments! 's DX is fairly new and we are still in the

process of finding exactly what kind of needs has! We may be

adding Bi-polar to his list of DX's soon.. then what's the school going

to do???

I will be gathering information to take to the school.. articles and

such for the IEP team to read and I am also gathering up a list of

's traits! I truly believe that 's regular teacher and

his gifted teacher (which is also the special ed coordinator) will do

anything in their power to help my son. At this moment I have no use

for the rest of the school.. mainly the Principal! If she could just

walk a day in my shoes her opinions about would change! She

would see that he DOES CONTROL himself TO THE BEST OF HIS ABILITY at

school.. she should see him at home! My poor son was stressed during

the summer because of lack of structure but all of anxiety has come

back since this week. He has bit the skin off of his lip and it will

soon start to bleed all the time again! I'm so sad for him and what he

has to go through at school.

I found out today that the Principal had intended on Isolating him in

the class so that he couldn't be with the peers.. he was talking and

disturbing them. BUT his regular teacher overrode that decision and

just moved him up front and closer to his desk. I'm under the

understanding based on 's report that there will be an empty

desk beside him. I was so furious this morning over how stressed

has come with these two meetings with the Principal.

I will be taking a written request for an IEP meeting along with my

preliminary reports to the school on Monday morning to get the ball

rolling on the IEP.. someone is dragging their feet! If they want to

be lazy then I will request that ALL of my son's rights be following

down to the exact law!! Ignorance is no excuse to treat my son like

this!!

It's very comforting to see that a lot of you have suffered through

these exact problems and that you have found a way to handle it! My

husband and I had been preparing ourselves to homeschool next year if

the problems were not fixed.. but it may become a reality very quickly

here soon. I am a stay at home mom (who had planned on going back to

work..:-), but I need to do what I can to help my son! I do have a

small business that I run out of our home making hair bows and other

girly things... I can stay home with my children and work here all at

the same time! I would probably help to that my son could go as far

academically as he wanted to here at home instead of being held back by

the Public school systems!

Once again.. THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!! I'm so happy that I found this

group!

Jackie
