Guest guest
Hey everybody, It's been a while since I have been on here. The last message I posted was about how the pre-school found my daughter not eligible for services. I was pretty upset, but I wanted to let all of you know that I decided to fight it. I found a place called the Disability Law Center, and the attorney wrote all of the appeal letters for free for me. We requested a third party evaluation and they found her eligible! So today I had a meeting with the district and the IEP team where they told me they were wrong, they had made a mistake, and they respected and admired my willingness to advocate for my daughter, because I was right! (Imagine that. A mother who knows her child better than the system! Shocking isn't it?) She gets to start pre-school on the 4th. I am SO excited for her because when she was in for observation it became an intervention and helped her a lot. It took 8 months to get to this point, but victory is mine! :-) Just wanted to post about this to give hope to any of you who may be fighting a similar battle out there. DON'T GIVE UP! You know your child better than they do and you can win this battle! Have a great weekend everyone! - B.
