is now a little over 8 months. She doesn't yet sit by herself. She can sit up, but we have to be right there b/c she will topple over. Also, although doesn't really like her tummy (ugh!!!!! we all know the reasons why!!!), she will watch a video on her tummy and she does roll over and sleep on her tummy. The problem is that when she is on her tummy her arms are down and at her side. She wont keep them out in front of her. When she rolls over, she keeps her hand down at her side, rolls over and then gets it out from under her. We took her to be evaluated by a physical therapist and she said that is like a 6 month old (she's 8 months). She said that unless we do therapy, she'll probably be delayed in crawling (which she already is) and walking. I wanted to know if anyone has experienced this.

The therapist said that she isn't rolling over "properly" because of spending too much time on her back. This doesn't seem right, though because she is on her stomach, but when she is, she wont keep her arms in front of her (we tried toys, etc.) Most babies today don't like their stomachs either, but they don't have this problem. I have been really upset by this.

The same day after the appointment we were at gymboree and one of the babies crawled for the first time. The mother was so happy and the class was clapping. I was happy for her, but sad that my daughter can't sit up. She is the only one who can't sit by herself and the range of ages is 7 months - 10 months. Laurie ('s mom)
