Hi Amy,

I had to write you because it sounds like my son is experiencing a

similar thing - welt/irritation on the bossed side of his forehead.

He's been in his DOC band since 2/23, (last Friday.) It fit pretty

well (except the part near the ears needed some trimming) until

woke up Friday morning (one week after he first got it). He

had a red spot on his forehead. It was kind of perfect timing

because we had our first re-adjustment appointment that morning. The

CT tech shaved off some of the lining there. She told us to wait

until the red spot went away before putting the DOC band back on. It

seemed to get worse as the day went on. Kinda red and bumpy. The it

started to get chapped - and the skin was flaky. I didn't have him

sleep in it that night. (Which was a bummer, since we ALL have

finally gotten used to it.) I put it back on Saturday late afternoon

after I thought his forehead looked better. This morning, Sunday, he

had a NEW red spot a few milimeters over from where the OTHER red

spot/irritation was. I left the band off all day, and the

flaky/irritated side still didn't seem right either. His whole

forehead seemed red!

My son never pulls the band off (so I know he didn't stretch it), and

we've only been in it for a week, so there couldn't have been that

much growth I don't think. I think it's especially weird since he

didn't get red at all on his forehead until after wearing it a week.

Unfortunately, now is sick - fever & runny nose. So another

night without his band.

I will be calling CT first thing in the morning to see what we can

do. Our next appointment isn't until Friday (and I'm not sure if

they have office hours before then)and I certainly hope we don't have

to go without wearing his band for a whole week! But I

certainly don't want to put it back on with what it keeps doing to

his forehead!
