Guest guest
Selena, So, how else does one measure progress???? Does anyone know of a doctor that takes the head measurements? I know one can take pictures to document progress, but I REALLLY would like some hardfast numbers to see improvement. Truthfully, Hanna's measurements did nothing for me. When they measured her at her graduation appt, and compared them to the originals, they thought the original measurements were all out of whack. They didn't make sense. For us, it was seeing the "headsicle" that made the difference. That way we could actually see how her head used to look, and how it looks now. Orthomerica (or the orthotist) only makes a negative mold (headsicle) upon request, so ask for one. You'll be glad you did! ) I also had a question about getting the 99% alcohol...do I special order it?Ask the pharmacist for some. They don't keep it on the shelf. They may have to order it for you, but it should only take a few days. Kendra in Canadawww.plagiocephaly.org/support... ----- Original Message ----- From: selenacobb@... Plagiocephaly Sent: Tuesday, February 27, 2001 11:20 AM Subject: Finally... Hi everyone,I thought I would give you an update. Tremendous thanks to Connie & Ann for all your advice and support. My son Ian finally got his STARBand. But it wasn't easy! We wanted the band to show the cranialfacial specialist on 2/21 since he's only had experience with DOC Bands. Orthoamerica shipped the band to the wrong address, it hung out in Denver for a few days, then shipped back to Orlando! I was very upset so I called them and they made a brand new helmet and fedexed it overnight just in time for our appointment! What a mess, not to mention I had to wait over 3 weeks. Oh well, it's done now.So, now I'm a bit disappointed since I thought the specialist would take Ian's head measurements. He didn't. He says that is the job of the orthotist. Well, our orthotist says he doesn't know how, that Orthoamerica hasn't trained the practioners how to do it. So, how else does one measure progress???? Does anyone know of a doctor that takes the head measurements? I know one can take pictures to document progress, but I REALLLY would like some hardfast numbers to see improvement. Ian has been in his band for 5 days. NO PROBLEM. He sweats alot, but I guess that's normal. It seems like a good fit, no red spots. I also had a question about getting the 99% alcohol...do I special order it?Anyhow, any input is appreciated and anything you can tell me on the head measurements, what type are taken, who does it, etc. would be very helpful.Selena & Ian from Denver8/7/00, STARBanded 2/22/
