Our first 23 hour day!

We had our first 23 hour day yesterday. Hannah is finally wearing

her DOC band all day (after a week getting the band). She slept in

it great last night. I actually think maybe she is sleeping better

with it on than with it off...she did not get up once last night. I

am a little concerned about the pressure spot on her forehead. It

stays red all the time....is this normal? Our orthotist said that it

will eventually get better. We have had that area adjusted two times

so I doubt that there is to much pressue.

Hi Stacey!

We have been going through the exact same thing! My son Evan's band

had been adjusted twice for a spot on the back of his head, and just

when we got that cleared up, a spot appeared on his forehead, after

wearing for 23hrs/3 days! It stayed red for a few hours yesterday.

It did not look almost sore though, like the one on the back of his

his head did, so I just put the band back on! And it did get

better....so maybe give Hannah's a little more time! I have been

such a worry wart about my son's....it's hard not to be! Good luck!

We were told to apply 0.5% hydrocortisone cream to these types of red

areas. Check with your orthotist. Hope this helps.

We were told to take a few days and do 2, 1/2 hour time offs, rather than 1 of 1hr. It worked great. We also had the red spot on the forehead. Until then, we were doing great adjusting also. It seemed to do the trick. I ended up calling our Physical Therapist at home on the weekend about this question, and that's what she told me. After about 2 or 3 days doing it that way, she was ready for the straight hour, once a day.

Hope it helps!
