Guest guest
sucked his thumb until last year when he got braces & they added a habit appliance to the braces so he couldn't suck the thumb. I see him still putting his hand to his mouth & curling the fingers around the nose like he wants to suck but can't. I hope after these come off he doesn't go back to it. I know it was a comfort for him but he is 15 years old now with a mustache & would like pretty silly. It seemed to work, I think it made me more conscience of what I was doing because I wanted that sticker. Before the hair chewing I sucked my thumb and about a year after the hair chewing I would eat the erasers off of pencils. I stopped the eraser eating after my aunt told me it would erase all of my insides! lol I now do none of these things so I guess it was just something I went through and I know I usually did them when I was nervous. I was a very shy child so I think I did them for comfort. Hope Start the year off right. Easy ways to stay in shape in the new year. Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Guest guest
was a thumb sucker, too. Since 6 weeks old! that is how she finally slept through the night. I was so thankful! The teachers helped her break the habit when she went to school. She was still sucking her thumb to fall asleep up to a few years ago - she tells me she doesn't do it any more. She is 15 now. He goes to his mom's this weekend.......with the full moon. I don't know how that's going to work. Betty debmetsfan@... wrote: was a thumb sucker, too. Guest guest
Believe it or not,I use a straw to drink my coffee. It isn't supposed to discolor your teeth from the coffee settling on them as it would just sipping from the cup. Guest guest
I have heard that before; if it works, do it, Betty! I have never TRIED it, but am NOT a huge coffee drinker; I do it at hotels in a weekly to bi-weekly mocha or something in the winter months. If I were A COFFEE drinker, I would straw it. Our kiddos are supposed to do it to meet sensory needs; perhaps we do that to meet our's?? Of course, that is, if we are aspies at all (perhaps---but I really do not think I have most of the things my children do--------)....of course NOT....LOL Ruthie Re: ( ) Re: what to do about tic like behavior? Guest guest
Hi, Betty! Actually, she began picking at her birthmark beginning last year. Her dad was taking me to court because he wanted his child support reduced. He dragged me into court four times last year. gets her birthmark from him. She is very angry with her dad and I think that is the real reason that she is trying to pick the birthmark off. I just took her to the doctor last weekend because it was all bloody and puffed up. She told me to make an appointment with the dermatologist because it will have to be removed. The therapist talked to about picking at it and she thinks it is an anger issue also. But I wondered if it might also be a tic. She said she doesn't realize that she's doing it. The head scratching and picking them I think she has been doing for two years or more. is on Ritalin SR, Prozac, and Tenex.
