I need help. Our 7 y/o has been having real dificulty in class

lately. 2nd grade has not been easy. We are in Fairfax county where

services are pretty good. Although this year the teacher has net

been the best and the special ed teacher is freah out of Grad

school. Our son has been fixated on a former fried. e used to really

like her but now thinks she has betrayed him. He made a threat to

her and another boy and her parents have been complaining to the

school. I have really tried to increase the dialogue with the

teachers and even spoke to the little girls parents. I thought we

were on the right track.

This afternoon, my son got angry in class and went and pulled her

pants down in front of class to embarrass her. Obvioulsy, the VP

took him to her office and I got the lecture of how the school has

to do something now. They would not tell me what yet. I suspect they

will move him to a different class. In the meanwhile I have

repeatedly asked for more services for my son and more one on one

time and communication with the teachers. Oh all this happend when

there was a substitute in class too and the special ed teacher was

no where to be found.

I really feel for the little girl. I am sure that she is going

through a lot. But when I heard the VP tell me that this will likely

affect her for some time, I couldn't help but think, " yeah she'll

get over it, but my son will be disabled for life. I know that is

bad, but I am very frustrated with the school and their lack of

response over the past year and we have hired an attorney to re-

write the IEP.

Anyway, sorry I am venting. Today was tough. I wanted to ask you all

if you had experience with you kids negatively fixating on a

particular child and how you dealt with it? I really feel helpless

right now.

Thanks

Mike
