Guest guest
Hi, I have a 5 yo son with Autism and we use many Biomedical techniques. But, my question this time is about my older son (almost 10) with Mild ADD. He was only recently diagnosed (haven't even told him yet). He is on 3 gel caps of Kirkman Labs CLO/day, 2 gel caps of Nordic Naturals ProDHA/day, and I have been giving him DMAE (1-2 wafers/day) for about the past month. The DMAE has really helped him. His grades went from 4 C's and 1 D+ (and a few A's and B's) to all A's and B's!:-D His teacher also noticed a difference in his ability to focus, have better work habits, and has been much more sociable and talkative with the other children! Here's the new issue though... My son has bad seasonal allergies to 9 local trees (red watery itchy eyes, nasal congestion, asthmatic breathing, etc), so he is on several allergy medications [Nasonex, Patanol (PRN), Allegra, Singulair, and Albuterol Inhaler (PRN)]. I have noticed less focus, less compliance, more argumentativeness, etc at home since starting these medications. He definitely needs something for his allergies (doctor has not recommended allergy shots yet), but I have the feeling that one or more of these meds are taking us backwards. I am guessing that it is either the Allegra, the Singulair or the Albuterol. As soon as I can find the allergist's phone #, I am planning on calling him, but has anyone else ever noticed these effects in their kids when on allergy medications? I've heard that locally made honey can help with allergies...but are there any other remedies that can help also so as to minimize the amount of allergy meds that my son needs. Thanks, Laurel PS: I do have a nebulizer at home. Might a nebulized form of Albuterol have fewer side effects than the inhaler?
