Guest guest
Hi, I'm and my son, (4 1/2), has ASD. Right about this time of year in 2004 he started becoming extremely agitated and screaming about his bum. My husband and I were worried so we ended up in A & E - the doctors said they couldn't find anything wrong with him and sent us home with advice to try Calpol, lactulose and Piriton. Well, none of it really helped except the Piriton made him sleepy enough so that he could rest. This went on for about 2-3 weeks then abruptly stopped. Fast forward to Autumn of 2005 - same thing. Nothing the doctor could find wrong, suggested med, etc etc. Here we are in 2006 and it's happening again. It's a very intense pain for him to the point that he's screaming and slapping at his bum. Whilst doing some research trying to find out what might be going on I came across Pruritus Ani. At the same time a few things regarding processed milk products sort of clicked into place and I suggested to my husband we take off all milk products and see what happened. Yesterday was the first day and it went fantastically. He only complained a tiny bit in the morning then the rest of the day was pain free and was able to sleep through the night. Today, however, we're back at square one. He's just spent the last hour and a half running all over the house screaming and crying. We tried using a bit of a haemmorhoidal cream to see if that would soothe the pain at all but I think it might have even made it worse. Same for soothing haemmorhoidal wipes. We're both at our wits end and our poor little guy is a real trooper trying to get through this. Nobody seems to know why this is happening or what to do about it. If anyone has encountered anything even remotely similar I'd be very happy to hear what it was and how it was dealt with. Thanks again,
