I say at some of my talks that a person with autism should not be denied or penalized from proper medical treatment just because they have a spectrum condition. I really wish kids, and even adults, would at least be screened for definite medical problems, physical problems, genetic issues, have scans, etc. to at least rule out those out. Not even dan doctors do that. So looking at different types of health professionals is needed to get a complete picture. When I talked this past weekend in Michigan, I talked for some time with a person who was 'a chiropractor specializing in 'manipulation'. After a few jokes on that description, she said she ended up working with infants and young children most because not many other people wanted to do that (the risk involved).
