Guest guest
, Your advice has been invaluable to me. My son has chronic viral problems, PANDAS and can not tolerate most foods. He gets enzymes 3xs a day and w/ food. The PANDAS started causing seizure last year when the antibiotics stopped working and he was exposed to strep. I realize this now because when I ended up in the hospital with Jack for seizures, after leaving the hospital I had strep. Jack had been on antibiotics for years to lower cytokines but bx would go through the roof if I tried to take him off of the antibiotics. I guess they can only work for so long. We now know the bx is caused by the PANDAS. I started using Virastop a month or so ago. When I was up to 20 a day for about a week, Jack had a grand mal seizure. I am not sure it was the virastop but I new I was pushing the envelope. I am not sure if it was affecting the strep or the virus. Jack 's virus caused a brain tumor when he was a bout 2 1/2 yrs old. He became normal after surgery for about 6 weeks got an infection and then lost eye contact and dropped all of his langauge. Any way bx has been terrible since last year but he has responded bx wise with the specific carbohydrate diet. Why would this be? Also Cindi mentioned bromelain at high doses for inflammation of the basal ganglia and years ago I use to do this and it seemed to help. I would love your thoughts. nne
Guest guest
>>>> The PANDAS started causing seizure last year when the antibiotics stopped working and he was exposed to strep. did you see any improvement with ViraStop before you got to the 20 capsules a day? Seizures can be pretty serious and are still mystery to some extent. Because of this, I'd hold off on anything that seemed to trigger a seizure. You may not know if it actually did provoke a seizure, or what aspect of the supplement or therapy may have been the culprit. But seizures are serious enough not to muck around with it unless a qualified doctor tells you it is okay for your particular situation. Just to make sure nothing is overlooked, I will ask the technical experts at Enzymedica as well as the medical doctor doing lots of enzyme research about it. >>>Jack 's virus caused a brain tumor when he was a bout 2 1/2 yrs old. He became normal after surgery for about 6 weeks got an infection and then lost eye contact and dropped all of his langauge. Was it any particular virus? What kind of surgery did he have? Poor little guy. What a way to start off in life. >>>he has responded bx wise with the specific carbohydrate diet. Why would this be? The specific carbohydrate diet is similar to a keto diet. The Keto diet is long known to help control seizures, but researchers are not exactly sure why. Here is short description of the keto diet and seizures. A book called The Epilepsy Diet talks about this and is referred to at this link: http://home.iprimus.com.au/kuekids/home/jhkdfs.html If bromelain helped, by all means, continue with it. Bromelain is long known to help reduce inflammation. Its available at practically any supplement provider. Bromelain along with papain are great enzymes...as long as you don't have a problem with 'fruity' enzymes. People have different triggers for seizures. My sister in law has epilepsy. She said certain body movements used to trigger hers, such as standing and swinging a hose back and forth as she watered the lawn. She figured out not to do these types of movements to help control her seizures. She also does a medication and avoids MSG. .
