Guest guest
Hi All Have a few queries and would certainly appreciate if the list members could help us with it : We recently did an amino acid screening for our 4 1/2 year old son and found that glycine was 526; and tryptophan, ornithine and arginine were also moderately elevated. This was done using the HPLC method with Norleucine as the internal standard. Would be grateful if somebody could interpret this result for us. We live in India and do not have any DAN doctor, with us here. At the time of the test we were giving him ISOGEST digestive enzymes. Taurine 500 and probiotics. We had also given a dose of Flagyl that was completed three days prior to the test. The second question is that with such a high glycine level is it still OK to start him on DMG. We are keen to start on DMG but do not know if the glycine in it will further push up the levels. The third question: how do we check if our son has over-methylation. We had been giving him MB12 subcutanous shots for 4 months, and stopped it about a month prior to the test. there appeared to be no significant change in his behaviour/cognition/skills. I am typing out the test results for you. I shall attach the graphic representation of the tests ( organic acids and amino acids; though in organic acid test, It may not have been done as per DAN! specifications, mainly because we do not know what to look for!) Here it is : glutamic acid - 84 Aspartic acid - ND Serine - 133 Aspargine - == Glycine - 526 b ALA - == Histadine - 99 Citrulline - 12 Norleucine - Internal std Alanine - 297 Arginine - 123 Tryosine - 63 Methionine - 24 Cysteine - 25 Isoleucine - 49 Leucine - 86 Phenylalanine - 62 Tryptophan - == (But in the report and the graph he has said it is high) Ornithine - 212 Lysine - 146 Please note this test was done at about 1400hours and he had had a light lunch of rice, veggies and chicken. I do not know how it would have affected the results. Also I am not sure if we have to take the race issue into account (i.e. Indian genetic make up and eating habits etc) before we can compare with control group results or standards. Thanks in advance Ajai
