Guest guest
Helen, Where are you located? There are several moms who are in the Atlanta area that could help guide you in this process. How old is your son? My son too regressed after 18 months and today he is almost recovered! He just finished regular 1st grade today! It sounds as if you are headed on the right path and VBA/ABA is very helpful. Most children have meltdowns because of communication issues and if he is still non verbal, this will help your child to be able to communicate with you. There are many natural methods to treat our children and I would recommend that you work with a knowledgeable physician whether it is a DAN! or a ND doctor regarding the issues you are dealing with. You are a wise parent to try and treat your son naturally before having to medicate him for a long time. Please let me know where you are from as I may be able to connect you with another parent in your area doing biomedical interventions. Jackie-- I've been part of the group for a while, but I never really ask questions.I usally find answers just by lookinh through past entries its really helpful.Cause I don't get to be on her often. But I've been searching every treatment method doctor etc.And I feel the natural is the best route for us.But read here and listenig to ya'll i realise theres.Alot i need to learn. The DAN! doc. we see said my so has regressive autism,up until that point he was diagnosed as developmental delayedwith behavioral issues. The area I'm in is sorely lacking in resources when comes to the natural approach.I'm tring to get my son off of the strong meds they hav him on.Which are not working lately.I'm if i can give you a little info on my son you can point me in the right direction. He's five, nonverbal(had some launge before age 2)has violent out burst can be destructive and selfinjures. He's affection will look you in the eye, doesn't know how to play, recently started tring new foods is casin free.caffine free red 40 free. He's on risperdahl, valproic acid, cod liver oil,might-a-mins, he becomes obsessive over things, stims constanly.he's not potty tained. He's really smart he can things by watching you closely which he does allllll the time. But refuses to do things you know he can do.He's very freindly.Well I've babbled long enough any advice would be grayly apprecaited. We're of o atlanta ga next week to go to the MArcus Behavior Center.but of been reading up on the aba program I'm just really cofused.besides I think thats only gona help a ittle his problems go deeper than tantrums.Well thanksHelen ._,___
