YOU WON'T BELIEVE THIS!!!!!!!

Well, we went for our casting appointment today with a local orthotist that

assured me they do and have done several cranial moldings. As well as

specialize in the STAR BAND...they told me he was " The head guy " ...anyway we

get there and out comes this guy with a measuring tape. I am asking a ton of

questions while he is measuring Max's head and he really didn't have any

answers for me other than " I've seen much worse, it's not that bad " blah,

blah, blah - WELL, he finishes measuring and says " OK, that's it " ...I almost

died!!!! I said aren't you going to cast his head???? He just looked at me

funny. I told him that I was there for the STARBAND...You have to make a cast

of his head...I know for a fact!!!!!! Well, he excused himself for about 5

minutes and came back and told me I was right...(DUH!!!!!) Then he said he

was waiting for a fax...in the mean time, I am holding back the tears,

keeping my baby calm and telling my husband that there is no way in hell this

guy is putting plaster on my baby!!!!!

He actually walked back in about 10 minutes later with instructions from

Orthomerica in his hand from the fax...(if you can believe this)

INSTRUCTIONS and had the nerve to try a stocking on my precious boy's

head!!!! Like I would let him touch my baby!

My husband said " hold it right there buddy...I thought you said you've done

this before " ..He said, " I have but only for molding helmets....I have never

done a casting before, not of a head!!!!! "

Obviously my mind was made up 10 minutes before but the guy said that. He

said he was relieved and didn't blame us for wanting to find someone with

more experience...(more than none, I guess)!!!!!! He said he called his boss

and his boss told him to do it!!!!!!!!

Ican't even believe what went on....needless to say, I cried way more than I

should have today! I spent hours on the phone with my insurance and

Orthotists today and found one about an hour away that has done 70 STARBANDS!

So we go tomorrow......after the Opthomologist appt that I waited 6 weeks for.

So here I am...another day closer to nothing!

My poor baby will have his eyes dialated and his casting done on the same day.

My first day on this site I told my friend, it's like all these mothers are

on some kind of crusade...I don't understand it...it's like no one will

help...I DEFINATELY UNDERSTAND!!!!!!

I will always thank my pediatrician who diagnosed my baby before I even knew

what it was or asked!
