Hi-

We've been GFCF for almost 3 years (my son is 4.8) and have done

several trials of enzymes while still gfcf with mixed results.

Today I finally served my son an infraction for lunch (regular pbj

sandwich) with enzymes, and he had an amazing afternoon/evening.

We've had infractions occasionally over the last year, but my plan

is to slowly and systematically re-introduce gluten and a little

casein while consistently using enzymes. When giving the same

enzymes with a GFCF meal we didn't see these results, so I suspect

it's the combination of wheat and enzymes. I'm so thrilled I could

scream. Here's what I've seen so far: increased conversational

language with nearly constant observations, improved creativity and

ability to stay with an activity during play, improved energy

(sorely needed), some zoning out, some difficulty tuning in to what

I'm saying, sporadic motor hyperactivity. Despite the drawbacks, we

had the best afternoon/evening in ages, and my son's appetite at

dinner was outrageous. I'll keep the group posted. Is one meal

with gluten per day a good start? And after how long do I increase?

Going off the diet is psychologically frightening for us because

it's all we've known since the beginning of biomed, which we pursued

upon diagnosis. And we did see some evident gains upon removing

gluten. But we owe it to ourselves, our son and the

research/experiences of others to give this a try.

TIA,
