I " ll send you the instructions in the book, AFTER you tell me what you're

having the most trouble with. I find the greatest potential of the product

lies in knowing how to use it " uniquely. " :)

Oh, but before I can do that, what kind of computer do you have and which

version of Boardmaker? I can help if you're a PC and not the latest

greatest version (that just came out this spring). But the MAC version and

the latest version are completely different!

instructions but if I can offer some support in your learning let me know.

Joan,

We have version 1.4. I don't know how new it is. I don't really know how

to use it at all. Marc used it a couple of times, but I have a feeling I'm

the one that will be making all of the pics. I also wanted to ask you at

the conference, where do you begin. I have so many ideas of what I want to

make, I don't know where to begin. I want a schedule for home and I need a

schedule for all of his therapies. He is very distracted when we go to

therapy. He's also in dance with other disabled children and I think

everyone will benefit from a pic schedule too. I haven't sat down and

started sooner because it all seems to overwhelming and I don't know where

to begin. If you can help me with the instructions that would be great.

I'm one of those that likes to know the ins and outs of everything before

using it.

I also wanted to thank you for taking time to talk to me and Marc at the

conference. Any help we can get is greatly appreciated. I called and left

a message with the Autism Society in our area on Tues and I still haven't

heard back from anyone. How typical. I started playing phone tag with the

Autistic Treatment center on Thursday, so hopefully I can get some answers

tomorrow. I want to know what an Autistic child typically receives as

services and how they are taught in school. I don't want to get burned

again in fall and I want to come in prepared.

Thanks again,

and Marc Tollefson

Peggy,

I haven't figured it out yet. My husband printed out some pics for me, but

I would like to do it myself since when I have time is when is at

school and not in my hair like he is when hubby's home. I wanted to start

with something small, like directions in the morning in the bathroom. I

figured out how to put the pics on the " main page " of boardmaker, but I

would like to type next to the pic. I also have read from some people on

the list that you can download pics and use it with other software. It just

frustrates me that there isn't even a help screen. Oh well, any help is

appreciated.

Thanks,

and Marc Tollefson

Don't get so excited that you overwhelm your child like I did when I first

got it. Peggy

i dont have boardmaker but it sounds neat. I know for nathans schedules

having steps on one page didnt work very well, and i remember reading on the

dotolearn site i think to have each step on a separate page, so i put them

on a ring and make them thick with those foam type stuff you can buy in any

color at walmart so he could flip easily. This helped for quite some time

and afte rhe started to get most of the steps down, i printed off a big pic

of the activity and then on the back a put the basic step reminders eg

shower, front is a person in the shower and flip over and it has 1. turn

water on with pic symbol, next line is 2. wash body with pic symbol, 3.

wash hair-pic symol too, 4. brush teeth, pic symbol (nathan showers before

bed so we save time with brushing teeth if in shower) and 5. is turn water

off, pic symobl too, then he has a memory card for after shower too, its a

big pic on person drying off, and flip over it reminds him to deoderant,

lotion, and comb hair, and to get dressed, and he has one for getting

dressed too. But remember nathan has learned the general stuff like to rinse

off the soap he just now needs the basic reminder word/pic cues. shawna.

  • 5 months later...

So does anyone here have the new boardmaker for Windows? (they upgraded

their program). I can't get it to print the boards for the life of me.

Anyone else having that problem?????

I did write them, and their answer was not helpful. It's the only program

that gives me trouble with my printer (an inexpensive--if that's really

possible, it seemed expensive to me--color laser printer by MInolta).

::::::sigh::::::
