Guest guest
I have a quick question about calcium. My son is casein free and takes now only 2 of the Houston enzymes (peptizyde and prime zyme--we are slowly reintroducing no-phenol every few days at the tiniest amount after his last diarrhea problem). I give Ronan spinach hoping that he gets some good calcium in the raw leaves. I just remembered that calcium is a huge vitamin that I think everyone needs for more than just strong bones. What kind of supplement can you recommend for a 2 year old, about 30 pounds who can't have casein and limited gluten? a--hang in there! I was at wits end with my son's diet back in the early spring and the Houston enzymes have been such a blessing. He's got sensory processing disorder, seizures and IgA deficiency. We went from 4 safe foods to over 15 within 3 months. I experiment with a few new foods and spices every few weeks too. We use the Feingold Diet to a degree (I don't stay strict to the products on their list since our local stores don't carry the majority of them. Part of it is reading the food labels and knowing what preservatives are made of.) When we first started enzymes, it took a couple of days to figure out correct dosage, but we had a boy who was constantly constipated, bloated, cranky, couldn't walk, was not interested in the least with playing, prefered to sit on the couch and wouldn't sleep very well, to a little boy whose eyes brightened, started purposefully playing, eating better, burped and hiccupped again, had a softer belly, better stools, laughed at funny things and actually started walking 3 days after his first enzyme. Three weeks later, I think Ronan's gut got a huge cleansing since he had some horrid stuff coming out both ends--but, the next day, he was the most on-task we've ever seen him and truly happy. His teachers were absolutely amazed. Three months later, Ronan went through another weird (and aggressive) state of yucky stools, rumbly and loud tummy, it took longer to run it's course but it passed. We also started chiropractic care for C1 and some of the middle thoracic vertebrae. Ronan's more aware of his environment and he's noticing sounds better and is less aloof. For us, it's been a combination of therapies and we're still working stuff out. I hope things get better for your situation and you can find some peace. I have a hard enough time trying to decipher what the heck ails/bugs/affects my son, I can't imagine how hard it must be for someone experiencing it first hand. We'll say some prayers for you and your family. Thanks, __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi I have searched and searched for the best calcium source because I really feel that our kids need the best one out there. The first one I would recommended is one from Germany it is called: Salus - Calcium Magnesium - the only thing that I didn't like about this one is you have to take alot and it is really sweet but it is a really good one because the calcium comes from plant not LIMESTONE. The one my son is currently on is: New Chapter - Plant based Calcium - very good and has D3 and Vit K and some other factors in it to make it very bioavailable in the body....meaning HOW much your body puts into the bones now this one is in capsule ( small ) I crush the pill in some applesauce and he takes no problem - I am sure that you could put it in a smoothie to hide it. ....just google the 2 that I have suggested hope this helps you > > Does anyone have a good calcium supplement they use and like? My son cannot have dairy and is not getting enough from his diet or supplements. He cannot take pills so it has to be a powder or liquid or I can open up capsule and poor the powder into his juice. My DAN! Dr recommend the Might-a-mins calcium complete so I'm looking at that one but I thought I'd ask ere first! Thanks, > > >
Guest guest
Hi I believe that Vital nutrients calcium has the least lead content according to their assay (which should be independent) and seem quite good , we use it here. All the best Kenny > > Does anyone have a good calcium supplement they use and like? My son cannot have dairy and is not getting enough from his diet or supplements. Guest guest
Calcium solids can be hard to break down, so I use New Beginnings ionic calcium and magnesium (consistency of water, but has a sharp bite to it). I split the dose in half and give twice daily. Mixed into my son's meat/veggie purée, it's undetectable. I had calcium deficiency myself, experiencing muscle twitching. The ionic liquid form nourished my body immediately, where I tried capsules that did nothing. Many folks like the peach fizz calcium by Brainchild. Another parent swears by Pearlcium - drawback is that it's a multi-level marketing product. * Always give calcium with magnesium and vitamin D (if using D). Dose far away from zinc (if using zinc). > > > > Does anyone have a good calcium supplement they use and like? My son cannot have dairy and is not getting enough from his diet or supplements. Guest guest
Kirkman has powdered calcium that I like - I put it into batches of GF/CF cookies. My doctor said cooking does not destroy calcium. > > Does anyone have a good calcium supplement they use and like? My son cannot have dairy and is not getting enough from his diet or supplements.
