For advice on how to give them go to: http://www.drneubrander.com/page1.html

where you will find video footage of families administering them to their

kids as well as detailed instructions.

Some DANs begin with this treatment no matter what the child is like.

Others do other things first no matter what the child is like. Others do it

based on the individual child's test results.

You definitely need to be comfortable with it before you start. It is a

commitment and, though they have been useful for my daughter (one of the

last things we added in our case) I really dread the nights we give them

even though she sleeps through and doesn't even know she gets them. Other

parents LOVE giving them because they see such dramatic improvement in their

kids.

Starting mb12 shots...need reassurance please!

Hi,

We just had our first DAN dr appt last week for my 4 1/2yr old HFA

son. He suggest we start the MB12 shots and we have decided to,

however I am a little nervous. This will really be our first

biomedical type treatment and I just wanted a little reassurance.

Also any advice on giving shots? Do any of you use numbing cream

first? Would appreciate your comments or advice! Thanks! Vinny's mom

I was so terrified the night I gave my son his first shot. I had a knot in

my stomach all day and was almost in tears as I walked in his room to do it. It

was so easy, he didn't even flinch and 20 shots later its old news. I'm in

and out of his room in 20 seconds. I use BLT numbing cream about 40 minutes

before his shot and put a small bandaid over the area where I put the cream so

I don't miss. Once you get the first shot overwith you'll fine!!

I just started giving my son these shots around Jan.

1st. We don't use numbing cream because we do it at

night when he is sleeping. Although, even if he was

awake I don't think I would need the numbing cream.

The needle is small and the injection is quick. I did

look on the Neubrander website for some tips and that

definitely helped but overall..it's very EASY. Last

night I had to give him his shot..I remembered last

minute -it was late and I wanted to go to bed. I

looked at the clock and it said 10:07. I ran

downstairs-got the shot and an alcohol swab, went into

my sons room-gave him the shot and was back in bed by

10:10!

We've seen subtle changes with my son and I understand

this is typical with B-12. Check out the

website..it's very helpful.

Best of luck. Amy

Just wanted to add that some kids DO feel it. I use the numbing cream and

we do it while she is sleeping but she STILL flinches and occasionally

mumbles something about " itchies " though she never has woken up for real.

I have experimented all kinds of ways - cream, w/o cream, waiting longer

waiting less, testing the cream on myself,, etc etc. I 'know' we are

injecting properly but she is STILL at some level aware of us (go into room,

pull down covers, pull down pjs, put cream on, come back 20 mins later and

pull down covers and pjs and undies and often MOVE her so her bottom is

accessible). And do this 3 nights per week. And remember to do it before

we are both falling into bed ourselves. I know it is easy for some families

- and I am not sayig it isn't worth it - but I find it to be a royal pain

AND I sort of feel like I am deceiving her (but prefer this right now to

telling her we're doing it). We've been doing it since September.

Just another opinion!

Josie

p.s.

On top of it all she has a pair of footy pjs that she LOVES and I often have

to lie to her and tell her they are dirty on shot nights or somehow make

sure she is not wearing them on shot nights.

I am also using MB12 shots for my son since October 2005.

Have no negative to report but notice some subtle improvements.

I used numbing cream for my son at first. Now I just give him the shots while

he sleeps and he doesn't wake up. I am so glad we did the biomedical things

because my son is so much happier and healthier. He can tell me what is on his

mind now as well.

Where do you get the numbing cream? We use to use it prior to blood draws, but

the Doctors say it's been discontinued.

We have a prescription for it through our DAN and we get ours from Hopewell

Pharmacy

uses for all her compounded stuff. We mail order it.

My ND prescribed Methylcobalamin Concentrated powder from Kirkman (under

the tongue) which is B12 and she said it was powerfully great. Dr.

Bradstreet (Autistic school and Research from Florida) also mentioned at

his lecture last year that lots of parents are doing the B12 cream at

night time instead so it is less invasive. I just wanted you to have a

couple options to look if you didn't know about them.

We do B creams at night as well. If we skip 2 days, it's time to move out of the

house! So, they definitely work. Dianne

Dianne,

When you say B creams, do you mean all the B vitamins?

Thanks,

Anita

ON the presription it only shows Vit. B complex. I think it's B12, B6 and maybe

B2. Dianne
