Guest guest
i was told by other parents that miralax isnt that good for our children (health-wise). id have to find the email and send it cause i dont remember the specifics (sorry!). benefiber is safer. i used phoschol from elyte and rna drops, bowel support to help with my son's constip issues. my son's issues was more neurological than functional. there are also lots of stuff at the health food stores. vicki

We use magnesium citrate for constipation. I don't give or take the dose listed on the bottle though. If I did we'd all be in the bathroom with the runs all day. We usually take about 30cc depending on who needs it (weight) and how sever the constipation is and adjust up or down as needed.

Guest guest
hi we used liquid paraffin, i gave my 8 year old son 3 tsp twice a day, and reduced that frequency/dosage as the 'orange grease' became evident, until his bowels got moving - i also gave him 600 mg of magnesium - this lasted for about 6 mths on and off and now all he and his brother need are 600mg of magnesium citrate a day and they both have 2 bms as a result daily. we also use enzymes - it didnt resolve itself overnite - the lp was great at getting rid of any impactions and now the magnesum fully takes care of any possible constipating foods that are eaten hth emma > > Hi, > Does anyone here use any medicine for constipation? My son's doctor has > been asking us to use miralax but I have avoided that since i am not > sure about its safety. Please let me know what you can do to relieve > constipation...i have tried high fiber cereals/brown > rice/oats/fruits/veggies but nothing seems to help.Has anyone used > benefiber...is it o.k for our kids?Any advice please. > thanks. >

Guest guest
The type of benefiber we use is guar gum...also we use plenty of ground flax seeds hidden in food. Meatloaf, spaghetti sauce, and all kinds of baked goods. You lose the omega 3 benefit, but the fiber still comes through....
Guest guest
I might be wrong, but doesn't benefiber have sucralose or aspartame? I'd try something from the health food store first--castor oil also works, though I don't know how good it is for children. vickila1@... wrote: i was told by other parents that miralax isnt that good for our children (health-wise). id have to find the email and send it cause i dont remember the specifics (sorry!). benefiber is safer. i used phoschol from elyte and rna drops, bowel support to help with my son's constip issues. my son's issues was more neurological than functional. there are also lots of stuff at the health food stores. vicki

Other ideas here http://www.danasview.net/constip.htm >>My son's doctor has > been asking us to use miralax but I have avoided that since i am not > sure about its safety. Here is some research and info http://www.danasview.net/miralax.htm >>Please let me know what you can do to relieve > constipation...i have tried high fiber cereals/brown > rice/oats/fruits/veggies but nothing seems to help. Rice [and milk and a few other foods] are constipating. Dana

Guest guest
miralax is a nightmare!! it made my daughter an absolute mess and did not help her in the slightest. Please take him to a chiro and have his spine checked for nerve interference...it is the only thing that helped us and is the answer for a sub set of our kiddos!! It really does work....ask some of the others, who have also done chiropractics. currently we use NO medications, and never will again. debbie graves --- amitabha_bhaumik <amitabha_bhaumik@...> wrote: > Hi, > Does anyone here use any medicine for > constipation? My son's doctor has > been asking us to use miralax but I have avoided > that since i am not > sure about its safety. Please let me know what you > can do to relieve > constipation...i have tried high fiber cereals/brown > > rice/oats/fruits/veggies but nothing seems to > help.Has anyone used > benefiber...is it o.k for our kids?Any advice > please. > thanks. > > > > >
Guest guest
We used Lactulose for quite a while and it really helped. He still had large, formed stools but they were at least soft and not painful and he would go everyday. This was given to us by our pediatrician and supposedly it is not harmful, you can take it everyday. It worked for us with no side effects. Now my son takes Ambrotose (glyconutrients~ see eightsugars.com) basically to help with autism symptoms but I think it has his body working well enough now that we don't need the Lactulose anymore. Good Luck! > > > Hi, > > Does anyone here use any medicine for > > constipation? My son's doctor has > > been asking us to use miralax but I have avoided > > that since i am not > > sure about its safety. Please let me know what you > > can do to relieve > > constipation...i have tried high fiber cereals/brown > > > > rice/oats/fruits/veggies but nothing seems to > > help.Has anyone used > > benefiber...is it o.k for our kids?Any advice > > please. > > thanks. > > > > > > > > > > >
