Guest guest
Yes it is in everything,,, and if you can possibly do it remove the stuff... gack... it made our lives miserable for years befoer we found out what was triggering the violent reactions in my son. you can get vitamins without corn, including vita c. here.. We get vitamin C in powder form from the Vitamin shoppe, the same with B-Complex vitamins.. Solaray has at least some things that are safe in the way of vitamins also. Read everything... and I do mean everything and if weird things start happening, reread the ingredient lists of things that used to be safe. Sometimes they change them. It is a struggle but ithas been worth it here. One bright note on the corn issue... Whole Foods has a house brand of sodas that use cane sugar rather than corn syrup. " the 365 " brand sodas on the shelf if you have one near you. I know it made my boy's day when I found them. Good luck and keep with it. Mark On 12/11/06, Denice Dirks <dkdirks@...> wrote: > > Help! I elimated Corn Syrup last Jume; and more recently obvious corn products. Now after the preschool OT gave him popcorm we know corn is an issues. But now I am realizing it is EVERYWHERE including ingredients you never guessed. Yep, removing corn was the most difficult food I had to remove. This site has some good info http://www.cornallergens.com/ > For those with kids with corn intolerance, do you find you must also remove dextrose and citric acid? I never considered dextrose, but I did remove citric acid. >>My son is on the Houston Trio but i have read some kids still cannot consume corn? Enzymes did not help my son with corn issues, only ALA chelation eliminated that problem. Dana
Guest guest
Mark - thanks for your input. i did recently discover the 365 Soda, what a treat for my son. I will look at the Vitamin Shoppe site and see about replacing some suppliments. Did you find over time your son was able to tolerate some corn products? Have you used enzymes and if so did you find them effective at all. Thanks again. I appreciate hearing it is all worth it. denice Mark Bishop <flutecrafter@...> wrote: Yes it is in everything,,, and if you can possibly do it remove the stuff... gack... it made our lives miserable for years befoer we found out what was triggering the violent reactions in my son. you can get vitamins without corn, including vita c. here.. Guest guest
Hi there: My son had major issues with corn as well - would get red under his eyes and hit. We get a lot of stuff at Trader Joe's - they have organic maple syrup (no fake corn syrup stuff), soda with cane sugar (as well as Whole Foods), I make my lemonade with organic lemon juice, filtered water, and stevia - he loves it. We also buy organic lollipops off of amazon.com that do not have corn syrup or aritifical flavors. When we started the no-corn diet two years ago, I remember reading on the EPA's website that corn, if it is purchased in non-orgnanic form, is technically no longer considered a vegetable. It has been genetically modified so much that it is more pesticide than vegetable. We have been able to introduce organic corn without a problem. Best regards, Debbie > > > > Help! Guest guest
Okay... hmm.. the enzymes don't seem to help him with corn, and we are not too far into chelation yet, so we do our level best to keep it away from his diet. I will say this, since he doesn't read this list... his reaction to small amounts of corn have changed. I do not know if it was the time without, or the supplementation, or the onset of puberty, but he went from out of control violence with corn, to nasty rebelliousness. and that seems to build up.. I only know this because he was sneaking things thinking he could handle it last month.. *sigh* it wasn't til he detoxed again that he could see the way it had altered his attitude. I am hoping that as we finish removing the metals from his system, even that normalizes. I never thought of trying organic corn.. might do that when I have some vacation time in case I need to deal with Mr Hyde again. one thing.. check all your meds too. I think tylonal has corn in it still, and then of course, there is the corn issue with most baking powder. *sigh* I wish I didn't have to know all this, but I do hope it helps you. Guest guest
I so very much miss Trader Joe's. We moved to CO from CA two years ago. No TJ's here yet. I stock up everytime I fly out to CA. I did find Lollipops and soda at Whole Foods. I will have to test organic corn when the holidays are over. I am not up for another several days of regressed behavior... It is really amazing they allow all this altered food; why would society at large not wonder if food is affecting our kids. Have you elimated all forms of corn (ie, dextrose, citric acid, baking powder?) have you had any success with enzymes. Has his intolerance lessened over time? Thanks much. denice debbiel3560 <debbiel3560@...> wrote: Hi there: My son had major issues with corn as well - would get red under his eyes and hit. Guest guest
In my small town....we have neither of those places.....so we went totally corn free.....if I didn't make it...the kids didn't eat it.. For a treat, I found the safest thing was to buy Mexican carbonated water....(they seem to have less weird stuff but I hesitate to buy much because of the limited amounts of quality control) and adding juice that they could tolerate for a treat... We went corn free for years...nuttin helped but time....even with HNI enzymes.. We had to make our own baking powder...they were very sensitive to it...and it did get worse for a while...now they can tolerate some things...still not cornmeal or popcorn but a few corn products without violent behaviors... hth Ronni > > I so very much miss Trader Joe's.
