Guest guest
that's my ds too! he just turned 9 yrs old and has been bouncing off the walls since his diag of autism at 2.9 yrs. i have been doing biomedical stuff on him for 6 yrs. he is still hyper and stimms a LOT but, i must say, since beginning chelation in oct 05, he has gotten a little better. mind you, a LITTLE. the hyperness and stimming are still a problem. recently did the neurotransmitter test and it showed he was very high in the excitotoxins (surprise!). i am currently doing chelation (td dmps) and focusing on viral issues. i have seen improvements. i have used " dr. christopher " herbal stuff on him and it helps a little. however, imo, until the metals come out, i may continue to have this problem with him. vicki
Guest guest
p.s. l-tyrosine (sp?) is supposed to be good for hyperness too. didn't do too much for my tough nut but it might help for you. i would encourage the neurotransmitter test and protocol if you are able to. GABA and 5-HTP didn't do much for my son because he has specific pathways blocked in his brain. have to work on that (thru chelation). vicki
Guest guest
good info haleh. i agree to play around with doses of GABA. also, at age 5 my son had his tonsils and adenoids taken out. didn't help much in the hyperness area. however, my son is a tough nut and heavily polluted internally which i am working on. vicki

Guest guest
As per dr. Yasko's protocol, you may want to eliminate all excitotoxins including glutamic acids or glutamate etc. Also I recently read a newly published paper on the connection of ADHD and hyperactivity symptoms, to sleep apnea caused by frequent tonsillitis and the fact that when these subgroups of children had a tonsillectomy, their behavior and hyperactivity dissipated. For me personally high dose magnesium did the trick but 5-HTP helped a great deal by improving serotonin level which in turned eliminated psychomotor agitation and anxiety. I only tried GABA on my son for three days and he became actually quite hyper with no seeming benefits. I soon should retry that back at a lower dose since I have heard that some kids just benefit from little GABA. You may want to play also with the GABA dose to find a good working dose. I would do a GABA post here to get the opinion of others who are using this supplement with success. Active treatment of intestinal yeast will help a lot too with hyperactivity as does treating constipation if that is an issue. For yeast I use a high potency probiotic in conjunction with Candex which is the most effective yeast control for my son. Guest guest
GABA is the best thing for my dd. 5HTP also helps with " dealing " with the world. B's help her mood, can't live without them. This is commonly associated with phenol intolerance and/or yeast overgrowth http://www.danasview.net/phenol.htm http://www.danasview.net/yeast.htm Sometimes adding B vitamins helps, sometimes it causes more hyper. Guest guest
Something to consider. A certain percentage of autistic kids are high in the neurotransmitters like serotonin rather than low. If that's the case with your son, GABA and taurine would be contraindicated, putting him even more out of balance and hence the behavior problems. > > Hi, > My son seems to be hyperactive and stims alot and ADHD is being > suspected in him. Guest guest
Dear , It is my understanding that high levels of serotonin in the blood doesn't really indicate too much serotonin as it needs to be utilized by the brain. So, the serotonin in the blood does often indicate a discounact in utilization. You are so right about GABA. I think one needs to play with the dose and see the benefits through observation. My son got more hyper with GABA but responds wonderfully to 5HTP not as a calming agent, but for anxiety, mood, sleep regulation etc. His lab test did show tryptophan deficiency so once 5HTP was added to his custom amino acid, it produced an amazing result and made his brain work better too. I am going to give GABA a gentler try as well. This is a supplement that is very dependent on the right dose to work and I am still not convince that one trial is enough to for go it. Guest guest
Dear Haleh, You mentioned your son's lab test showing tryptophan deficiency for which you give him 5HTP.Could you please tell me what specific test has to be done for that?Thank you Whatever I've read about 5HTP makes it tempting for me to try it for my son,but I haevnt tried so far.I need to learn more.Gaba has almost been a life saver fo rus,it really helps my son calm down.Would you know if 5HTP can be given along with gaba?I want to discuss with my son's DAN on our next visit. Thanks Iffat > > > > > > Hi, > > > My son seems to be hyperactive and stims alot and ADHD is being > > > suspected in him. Guest guest
Dear Effat, We did a Metamatrix ION profile which is a very extensive and comprehensive test. Metamatrix also has a Plasma Amino Acid test separately which is the segment of ION that showed my son's Amino Acid levels. 5-HTP is an Amino Acid and I don't see why it should contradict GABA. Since I have realized that 5HTP is a component of my son's amino acids complex which has been great for him, I have added 100mg of 5_HTP to my own and my husbands supplement regime. Before this it had been over four years that I had not slept uninterruptedly and I have had periodic episodes of anxiety and depression which are all gone and I sleep trough the night too. So, I must have been deficient as well. Then I started ranting about it to my husband and he declined 5HTP until recently after a few days of feeling depressed I put him on it too and now he swears by it. Since 5HTP is an amino acid ,tryptophane, which exists in many meat products, you may just want to try it for yourself before giving to your child. This has been my policy here. Today I tested the EDTA on myself because we are soon to start that for my son. Fortunately no adverse reaction and that usually makes it likelier that he can tolerate it too. Hope this helped, Haleh --- mysweetangel786 <mysweetangel786@...> wrote: > Dear Haleh, > You mentioned your son's lab test showing tryptophan > deficiency for which you give him 5HTP.Could you please tell me what > specific test has to be done for that?Thank you > > Whatever I've read about 5HTP makes it tempting for me to try it > for my son,but I haevnt tried so far.I need to learn more.Gaba has > almost been a life saver fo rus,it really helps my son calm > down.Would you know if 5HTP can be given along with gaba?I want to > discuss with my son's DAN on our next visit. > > Thanks > Iffat > > > > > > > > > > > Hi, > > > > My son seems to be hyperactive and stims alot and ADHD is > being > > > > suspected in him. Guest guest
The most perfect diet I have come across tackling the entire spectrum of nutrient / food related psycological disorders ranging from depression to autism - is Dr Natasha -Mcbrides diet which she explains beautifully in her book Gut and Psychology Syndrome. Quite similar to what is outlined below, but more rigerous and also including specific key foods encorporated into the diet daily for th purpose to regrow the linning of the gut. She links the use of vaccines and their damage within the gut in an easy to understand language. She also gives a reasonnable time scale of two years to acheive full remission when adopting the protocol, if kept to rigourously. Her own son was healed completely of autism with this diet - I personnaly found it a humbling read and recommend it to everyone who works with diet in the healing profession. With love, From: Gilbert <drjohngilbert@...>Subject: ADHD and Autism Date: Saturday, 19 February, 2011, 19:07 Dear Barbara et al,I've had very good luck over the years using any biofeedback program to improve attention, concentration, focus and brain enhancement for Autism, ADD and AHDH. The better the client sticks to this regimen, the better their brain functions:1. Avoid sugar, honey, corn syrup, aspertame and other artificial sweeteners (abstinence is almost impossible) 2. Avoid wheat, oats, rye and corn breads and cereals, artificial food additives and especially artificial food colorings3. Instead eat amaranth, flax, millet, sugarless oat bran, quinoa and rice breads and cereals4. Eat as much raw vegetables as you can eat each day5. Eat all the protein you want to eat each day (with or without fat) 6. Make sure you get Omega oils each day 7. One apple or the equivalent amount of fruit is acceptable but only in the morning8. Supplement 5000 IU vitamin D3 100 mg multiple vitamin B and 2000 mg vitamin C complex daily9. Avoid ascorbic acid since it is a toxic synthetic substanceFor Autism, also do everything you can to counteract the vaccines this person has endured.Peace,
