Hi,

Has anyone used this product? Houston Enzymes did not seem to do the

trick for my son. I do love the convenient chewables though. He

still has terrible bowels after GF/CF since 5/02, SCD for 1 year and

Houston enzymes. He does not have yeast anymore and we are in the 5th

month of TD-DMPS chelation.

Thanks,

Regina

Regina,

I've been keeping an eye out specifically for reports on this product.

It has been out for months and no one can find a post where it is

helpful. I ask for experiences on it periodically. Based on the actual

science, it isn't supposed to help in any remarkable way. But you

always need to balance the science against actual experience. Sometimes

good things happen in real life and then the researchers need to go and

figure out way or update the science.

But I've not found any positive reports. If you do run across any,

please forward them. Or if you find where it isn't helping, forward

those too. It all can be helpful.

Most people are finding just as much success with other good broad-

spectrum products. Buie's work was not on supplying isomaltase enzymes

to product improvement in autism...it was looking for early markers of

intestinal damage. Isomaltase is one of the carb enzymes located in the

villi (along with lactase, DPP IV, and few other things).

How many of the chewables do you give? It might take 3 or more per dose

to be effective. I believe a 'serving' is given at 2 tablets. But some

people here have said they give 3 or more per dose. If you still have

some chewables, you can try upping the dose before moving on.

Can you say anything else about his behavior?

How is his sleeping?

What other supplements to you give? any successful? Any unsuccessful?

Any particular stims or problems?

Virus problem? I mention this in particular because a number of people

not seeing good improvement with the items you mentioned turned out to

have a chronic viral problem. (This is really the reason I got

interested in enzymes for viruses...this subgroup was 'left over' when

other people had found solutions)

Hi ,

Thank you for your response. I did start the Kirkman's on Thursday. had

a long weekend and I like to start things when he is home. His stools are

darker already, but still very soft. wirh no change in behavior, except maybe a

little increased hyperactivity. I am staying with Houstons for his lunch,

because the school won't open capsules and he can't swollow pills yet. I do

have some chewables left, and usually save them for snacks.

We have not done anything anti-viral yet, but I have been looking into it and

would love to hear suggestions on where to begin.

Here is a little about :

He is 6 years old. He is on the hyper side and has great difficulty

concentrating. He is very gentle and very loving. He has decent receptive

language, but very low verbal skills. He knows a lot of words, but only

communicates verbally to express his basic desires. He is usually pretty

compliant and does not get easily frustrated. He is not very stimmy, but does

have a few verbal stims and rote behaviors. He can easily become obsessed with

his interests which are pretty limited. (obsessed with paw prints) He does not

really have any friends, but imitates a lot of what his big brother does.(adores

him also) His sleep goes through cycles, and we are now in the middle of a bad

one.

has always had poor digestion. We have not seen any improvements with

any of the treatments we have tried.

Here are the supplements he is on:

Zinc, selenium, magnesium, Amino Acids(Very calming for him), MB-12 shots with

NAC and folinic acid, (helped with his language some) Co-enzyme Q10,

Three-lac(doesn't seem to have yeast anymore as per testing and trials with

anti-fungals), 5HTP, Cod Liver oil, TD-Glutithione, TD-DMPS, the enzymes I

mentioned, Nu-Thera, Learners Edge(seened to help awareness, but also makes him

hyper) He has been GF/CF for several years, and is far more reactive to wheat

than dairy. He can tolerate some dairy on special occasions. He was on the SCD

for 1 year with little improvements.

Thanks for your time,

Regina
