Guest guest
This is personal opinion back up by articles I've read but lose the soy. I hear nothing good about it. Yes, my daughter's were on soy too and I deeply regret it. I didn't know. Rice milk would be better or look at the website soyfreesolutions for alternative formulas. How long has she been in AFP? I understand food in/poop out should be the norm. If you go by my ASD son, this is now true. Don't worry about TMI here, you didn't even say what color ;>) Kathy BM Question since beginning AFP Peptizyde I started giving my 14 mo. old daughter 1 AFP Peptizyde chewable (crushed) before each meal (and her 2 bottles) on Friday and this morning she had the strangest BM. They have always been very mushy and are about 1-2 BM's per day (or every other day) in frequency. This BM had the appearance/texture of sand. Like the typical mushy stool (however with no undigested foods) but like someone had poored a cupful of sandlike material in it. Babywipes couldn't even handle this job! (TMI, sorry!). I just wondered if this is a side effect of the enzymes, maybe we are dosing too much, or if maybe it's a good thing and her system is clearing out some bad stuff. She eats a pretty simple diet - GF grains, fruits, vegetables and chicken. She also still gets 2 bottles (AM and PM) of Soy Formula. We have not introduced her to dairy or Casein yet. She takes CLO, Fish Oil, Vitamin C (200mg) and a multi-vitamin. I also wanted to make sure that I wasn't starting too high of a dose, or too low. She's 27lbs (97%) and 34 " (off the charts). She has two siblings on the autism spectrum and I just want to make sure that I'm doing the right things for her. Thanks for any help! Guest guest
Hi Amy AFP or any other strong protease can cause loose stools, especially in the beginning. I would maybe try cutting the dose in half and work up to a full dose over a weeks time or so. I don't know about the sand - this may just be cleaning out of unwanted junk which the enzymes will do. Guest guest
My son had quite a bit of grainy stuff too -- sand or small seed (flax) size. I've concluded that it was either 1) Old partial blockages being broken up and coming out. 2) I have also read that black specks can be a sign of yeast die- off, and enzymes (especially strong proteases) can make an inhospitable environment for yeast. > > > > I started giving my 14 mo. old daughter 1 AFP Peptizyde chewable > > (crushed) before each meal (and her 2 bottles) on Friday and this > > morning she had the strangest BM. Guest guest
We have the black specks! When I clean out underwear (BM inside of course) I see this black grainy sandy stuff even some things feel like a little rock or gravel or something. I usually set the underwear in our shallow sink with water in it to see if food particles are floating in there after a while. I pull the plug and its all that black stuff. Its better than finding food not digested. We give No fenol and AFP. He acted like he could taste the ZP. After one week of enzymes he said, " daddy, I have to poop! " and he just turned 8yrs old. We are slowly getting him to sleep not in our bed. Unfortunately, not in his bed either! We have got good reports from school even tho they don't know what is going on! The food in the BMs are not there. The black stuff is the gravel like stuff. Its there. The BMs are still dense. Yesterday he asked me to " cut off his ear " which means the ear infections are coming back. Yuck. Instead of calling the doc I went to the local HFS and bought some ViraStop and Nutribiotic has an Ear drop formula with GSE. We will try this tonight. Hopefully it will help him. Anybody do chiropractic treatment to help with ear infections or should I just treat it with Virastop and treat for viruses. Thanks. April. --------------------------------- Talk is cheap. Guest guest
Yep -- it WAS the same here. He had been on Miralax but it's been Mag/Vit C, enzymes, probiotics, and zinc for 3 months now -- and the grainy poops stopped after about a month +/-. Now -- get this -- I'm bragging about poop -- he has one in the morning and one at night MOST every day!! Yippee!!! > > We have the black specks! Guest guest
That's great. I just wish mine would do it in the potty. Great news though after less than a week on enzymes he said, " daddy I have to poop! " MAJOR for this kid even if he is 8yrs old. I just wish I would have known about enzymes earlier and gotten a diagnosis earlier for that matter. He was almost 5yrs old! --------------------------------- Messenger with Voice.
