Hi Joyce,

Sounds like you are getting really good care with all the newest treatments at Froedtert. Kind of nice to know that your docs have 50 A patients. Mine only have had 9 in five years but I think they did great anyway. Trained with Dr. Pellegrini.

I laughed about the Cheetos, I could usually eat them too!

Well she just had another movement... Gonna give it 1/2 cap for daily and

see where we are.... She was on this stuff before for months.... I do NOT

want that again, but I gotta get her cleaned out shes FULL said the xray

tech... I did buy flaxseed with primrose today, gonna give that a go next week

(after we get her cleaned out good with miralax :( then try natural only

cause shes sooooooo full NOW) hate the " after effect possibility " , but shes

unhappy and trying to get comfortable...

That is the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard. Blame the child? Its

her fault? Youre smart not to like THAT doc. Find a new one!! I’m sorry

you had that experience!!!!

Food allergy test for sure – IGG and IGE

And Miralex is bad news except very infrequently – even though they ALL say

its no rpblem (like the vaccines and the antibiotics and etc etc). There is

a whole group just devoted to Miralex and autism (I don’t have the

exact link)

GI visit

Ok so the BA enema said could not rule out Hirschsprung... Ped said go to

the GI... We went he felt her tummy and said nope its just her holding

it... Put her back on Miralax and said call me in 2 months if shes not

going normally by then. I called the ped and left 2 messages saying I

would like a 2nd GI to tell me this please (no call back yet) Gave her the

miralax the past 2 days and last night she did have a pretty good poop (but

I dont like the thought of giving her this stuff especially for a lifetime!)

Also when the ped calls I am gonna request a food allergy test, anything

else others can recommend? Was awesome to hear a GI say NOPE SHE DOESNT

HAVE THAT, then the dreaded its all her fault came. And he said I would

never have ordered that enema.... Needless to say I dislike this GI and

want to see another (IN CASE)

I went through that, especially with my NT daughter...

Once she was " empty " , here is what helps:

- magnesium citrate

- removing food she was sensitive to

- treating yeast

- plum juice/dried plums (not good for the yeast, but for her, at a

last resort, it was producing a BM within 30 min).

- lots of veggies

I made sure she was going at least once a day for 6 months before

reducing the magnesium citrate (it takes 6 months for the duct to get

back to a normal size).

To empty her, the ped GI told me to buy liquid Magnesium citrate at

Walgreen, and to give her 1/4 bottle twice a day for 2 days. It is

full of dyes, but I'd rather do that than Miralax.

hope this helps,

Definitely not good to give for more than about 2 weeks.

Try to find the source of her constipation. Consider foods

[especially milk, wheat, rice, bananas, apples] and nutritional

deficiencies [especially magnesium and vitamin C]

Okay, I survived. he was okay and okay with all of the supplements from the Holistic Doc. He won't go straight into a liver biopsy until he first runs a Cat Scan and perhaps an MRI, if it's warranted.. I gave another 4 tubes of blood, got my Pneumonia Vaccine and started my Hep B Vaccines. After 7 1/2 + weeks of non-stop research, I really had no questions, other than which treatment he used, Pegysis or Peg-Intron, and I wasn't at all pleased with his reply.. it depends on which my Insurance will cover.. Other than that, he confirmed that the treatment can be difficult and that he's had no more than a 30% success rate with my Genotype.. I'm back to a holding pattern, need to get approval for the Cat Scan from my HMO and then see what that shows.. wonder WHY his success rate is so low? DOES he refuse to treat the side effects? Those can be a main reason that ppl stop tx.. Like I said before, you need to have a doc who will give you pain meds, sleep meds, antidepressants, procrit, neupogen etc,, whatever YOU NEED to be able to finish,, most gastro's wont treat them and will send you back to your primary care physician...Sheena <mom4possums2002@...> wrote: Okay, I survived. he was okay and okay with all of the supplements from

Cat Scan? MRI? Why not just a sonogram (ultrasound)? Someone please

tell me what is the difference, (I know sono means " sound " and MRI

uses magnetization), but don't they all basically show masses and

blobs? I say, get in there and get some tissue with a biopsy! LOL!

Forgive me for being flip, Sheena, I just had a killer acupuncture

session. Got lots of needles stuck in my head this time (for stress)

and in certain parts of the my legs and thighs (for the hep) and in my

right hand and hand (for the whole GI system, nausea, etc.).

My TCM practitioner taught me a great acupressure point for when you

are nauseous. Squeeze the are just above the " webbing " between the

left thumb and pointer finger. It works!

As for your doctor, I am disappointed at that response. Geez, I hope

mine doesn't say the same thing when I go on the 9th of November. Has

he given any thought to the fact that only 30% have been cleared is

due to his (well, the insurance company's) choice of medication? I

guess now would be a good time to ask your insurance co for their

formulary. And how does it help to YOU to reinforce the difficulties

involved in treatment. He should be encouraging you to be positive.

Well, WE all will...Hang in there, keep popping those vitamins and

feel good! The Hep C Support group is having a Thanksgiving feast at

the next meeting and you need to have your strength and appetite in

high gear by then.

Hugs,

susan

, I can't answer the why's of an HMO, but it's what I have to live with. I did have an ultrasound.. They will eventually do a liver biopsy, but must first "see" the reason to.. The GI wasn't really too bad, as far as that goes, he just seemed painfully honest to me.. I was wholly disappointed in his response in regards to treatment, it was my understanding that Peg-Intron was what should be used for type "1"??????????? It seems the people with NO insurance have a better chance of getting help.. We talked about acupuncture, he did say that is how some people were infected in the first place.. Makes sense.. I guess now it wouldn't matter.. I will call my Insurance and the drug compnay when I feel better. How long

were you sick from the B and pneumonia vaccines? :( Sheena <marvindamartian05@...> wrote: Cat Scan? MRI? Why not just a sonogram (ultrasound)? Insurance is so frustrating, they hold the key to the

Only 2 days! Then you will feel " fine " again, Sheena. If you are sick

from the vac's it means that your body is creating the desired

immunity response. It's a " good sick " .

My acupuncturist opens the needle containers right in from of me. I

can imagine that an irresponsible practitioner could have passed the

disease a time or two, but to impugn the entire practice of

acupuncture is a bit much!

Anyone who goes and has acupuncture, which I recommend, by the way:

make sure your TCM practitioner opens the needle packages in front of

you. I have had more energy and fewer aches and pains, not to mention

stress reduction galore, since I started getting poked!

I agree ,, MOST Accupuncturist open the needles right in front of you and I personally think one has a higher risk of getting HCV from getting a manicure or pedicure or even getting a haircut when they use the razor to clean up your neckline... <marvindamartian05@...> wrote: My acupuncturist opens the needle containers right in from of me. Amen to that! After Sheena told us what the doc said about it

depending on her insurance whether she got Pegasys or Peg-Intron, I

checked my own insurance plan's formulary. Yay, both of them were on

it. So I called the insurance co (blue cross blue shield of CA)to see

what my co-pay would be, and they said that it would be 30%. Again,

Yay!

Then the proverbial " other shoe " drops...the guy informs me that with

my plan (the PPO " SAVER " ), each member's meds are capped at $500 per

year! That pays for the first 2 shots! Basically, I would be out of

pocket $1700 each month (and that's with my " discount " ha!).

So, now I have to upgrade to another plan, and no one at my company

knows anything about the insurance (because it's such a small

company, we don't have a dedicated HR person), except to say that I

can't switch until open enrollment in March! So, I may NOT be

starting tx in January after all.

Insurance companies really do hold all the cards, don't they (well,

not really, the Lord does)...at least they think they do. No wonder

people are going to India, Mexico etc for medical care.

Hey, I wonder if I could buy Peg-Intron in Tiajuana (only partly

kidding here, folks.). I can just picture the guy in a sombrero with

his little " RediPen Stand " .

they shouldnt make you sick! If you are sick then you need to call the doc,, HepA and HepB shots do NOT make you sick,, and the flu shot only should make your arm a little tender cuz its a killed virus,, there is nothing in them to make you sick Sheena <mom4possums2002@...> wrote: No different than I expected.. I have an HMO, have to take what they give me. <sigh> I have other questions to ask him, but no need just yet, am still in

Like I said before, you need to have a doc who will give you pain meds, sleep meds, antidepressants, procrit, neupogen etc,, whatever YOU NEED to be able to finish,, most gastro's wont treat them and will send you back to your primary care physician...Sheena <mom4possums2002 > wrote:

I DONT believe its the choice of meds,, I think its the side effects and ppl NOT being compliant with the meds because of how awful they feel.. <marvindamartian05@...> wrote: Cat Scan? MRI? killer acupuncturesession. Got lots of needles stuck in my head this time (for stress)and in certain parts of the my legs and thighs (for the hep) and in myright hand and hand (for the whole GI system, nausea, etc.).My TCM practitioner taught me a great acupressure point for when youare nauseous. Geez, I hopemine doesn't say the same thing when I go on the 9th of November. Hashe given any thought to the fact that only 30% have been cleared isdue to his (well, the insurance company's) choice of medication? Iguess now would be a good time to ask your insurance co for theirformulary. And how does it help to YOU to reinforce the difficultiesinvolved in treatment.
