Guest guest
Since I guess we too had no great things, not really even good, from enzymes, use in past. I was disappointed too but lucky to not have any real overactive bahav as result. cecilia76@... wrote: My daughter is on the GFCF diet, and I started enzymes like 4 weeks ago, I started slowly and now she is taking No fenol, zyme prime, and AFP petizide. with two meals a day. I just added probiotics (houston) and 2 days ago I tried giving her Mountain High Yogurt (that has probiotics to see if it would be helpful). I read karen's book and I was so excited to start, but since we started she has been awful, very hyper, extremly stimmi (verbal, visual, etc.) all that I can handle for a while, but the worst thing of all is that she is waking up again at nights!!!! she waked long ago and totaly stopped but since I started enzymes she is waking up (hyper as can be) at 2 o 3 in the morning and won't go back to sleep at all, not every day but I haven't found a connection to anything that is making her wake up, the only thing that comes to mind is that she didn't use to eat a lot of sugar only from fruits and a little bit of blueberry jelly with her peanut butter sandwich, she is taking chewables and it is so easy to give them to her, but I'm wondering if they have a lot of sugar that could be making her behave like this? I don't know if I should keep her on the enzymes and deal with the side effects separately or if the side effects are supposed to go away in a few more weeks and just be patient? Her birthday is comming up in two weeks and I was hopping that she could have some regular cake for once. Sorry is so long but I've been up all night and I could stop thinking about this and what the problem might be. Thanks so much. Guest guest
This could still be adjustment to the enzymes or die-off believe it or not. It could also be intolerence to the enzymes themselves. My dd took a good 6 weeks to adjust to the enzymes. I have also found after about 5 months on enzymes that dd does not need as much no- fenol and AFP and reducing those has helped with hyperness and stimming. My daughter is on the GFCF diet, and I > > started enzymes like 4 weeks ago, I started slowly and now she is > > taking No fenol, zyme prime, and AFP petizide. with two meals a day. > > > I just added probiotics (houston) and 2 days ago I tried giving > > her Mountain High Yogurt (that has probiotics to see if it would be > > helpful). > > > I read karen's book and I was so excited to start, but since we > > started she has been awful, very hyper, extremly stimmi (verbal, > > visual, etc.) all that I can handle for a while, but the worst thing > > of all is that she is waking up again at nights!!!! she waked long > > ago and totaly stopped but since I started enzymes she is waking up > > (hyper as can be) at 2 o 3 in the morning and won't go back to sleep > > at all, not every day but I haven't found a connection to anything > > that is making her wake up, the only thing that comes to mind is > > that she didn't use to eat a lot of sugar only from fruits and a > > little bit of blueberry jelly with her peanut butter sandwich, she > > is taking chewables and it is so easy to give them to her, but I'm > > wondering if they have a lot of sugar that could be making her > > behave like this? Guest guest
It took two months on HNI enzymes before my kids could have any sugar, dairy, peanuts, protein or wheat at all without becoming hyper. I know there's not a lot of sugar in those pills but I wouldn't rule it out, that the sugar in the pills could be causing the problem. -- > > > My daughter is on the GFCF diet, and I > > > started enzymes like 4 weeks ago, I started slowly and now she > is > > > taking No fenol, zyme prime, and AFP petizide. with two meals a > day. > > > > I just added probiotics (houston) and 2 days ago I tried > giving > > > her Mountain High Yogurt (that has probiotics to see if it would > be > > > helpful). > > > > I read karen's book and I was so excited to start, but since > we > > > started she has been awful, very hyper, extremly stimmi (verbal, > > > visual, etc.) all that I can handle for a while, but the worst > thing > > > of all is that she is waking up again at nights!!!! she waked > long > > > ago and totaly stopped but since I started enzymes she is waking > up > > > (hyper as can be) at 2 o 3 in the morning and won't go back to > sleep > > > at all, not every day but I haven't found a connection to > anything > > > that is making her wake up, the only thing that comes to mind is > > > that she didn't use to eat a lot of sugar only from fruits and a > > > little bit of blueberry jelly with her peanut butter sandwich, > she > > > is taking chewables and it is so easy to give them to her, but > I'm > > > wondering if they have a lot of sugar that could be making her > > > behave like this? Guest guest
I also want to add, that No Fenol can cause a tremendous yeast die-off reaction at first. In a yeast die-off reaction, the symptoms associated with yeast get way worse. You might want to try stopping just the No Fenol for a while. --

Guest guest
My daughter is tolerating enzymes wonderfully, she is SCD. I am taking the enzymes and removed grains, bread foods from my diet, but did not take out sugar and have been wondering if the enzymes could be exaggerating the effects of sugar by making it more digested and bioavailable in the body/brain. Since starting I have felt a bit hyper at times, which isn't really typical of me. Has anyone else experienced this? I am thinking about removing sugar completely too, but with the enzymes attacking yeast so well I have had a bit of a craving and every so often enjoy a coconut macaroon! I wonder if this could be what your child is experiencing. If you don't remove the food it could potentially exaggerate an effect/food reaction instead of eliminating it?? Anyone have any ideas on this??? Guest guest
Thanks for all the replies, it looks like most of you think it could be die off symptoms and adjustment, so I'm just going to think positive and keep going to see if things get better, I'll increase the zinc amount, and I'm already doing the baking soda and empsom salts. I actually didn't give her any No Fenol today and she has been very calm and more focused, and I also got good comments from school. It has only been one day but we'll see what happens. I have two more questions; Are die off symptoms a good or bad thing? And also how do you give GSE I tried it myself and OOOOHHHH boy it tastes so baaad, I tried it with jelly and it doesn't cover any of the flavor and it stays there for a while, is there any other trick to administer it? Thanks again! Cecilia ---- b9007812wrrng <dlawn@...> wrote: > I also want to add, that No Fenol can cause a tremendous yeast die-off > > reaction at first. Guest guest
I put the GSE in apple juice and I don't taste it. Guest guest
Die off means you are killing the offending organism--in this case yeast, and that's good. When the organisms die their bodies disentegrate and all the toxins inside their bodies are released into the bloodstream at a much faster rate than they would have been released while the organism was alive. That makes the toxin-induced symptoms increase, which is not good at all. You want to kill the organisms, but not so fast that you're getting die-off symptoms. What worked for us is, after we tried No Fenol with GSE and we had a die-off reaction, we stopped taking both for one month. Then we tried again, at a very low dose (1/4 capsule of No Fenol per day plus about 4 drops of GSE per day), and the second time we tried we didn't have a die-off reaction at all. We felt totally great, and our yeast symptoms disappeared for a few hours with each dose of GSE. Over a period of about two weeks I gradually increased the Dose to 1/2-1 capsule of No Fenol per day plus 8-12 drops of GSE per day, split into doses of 4 drops each. GSE does taste dreadful. For two of my kids, who can swallow capsules, I put it into empty capsules along with some vegetable oil or other supplements. I had to keep the capsules in the freezer so they wouldn't melt. For my 3-year-old, I had to mix it with a lot of lemon juice and fructose (a sweetener) to kill the taste. -- > > I also want to add, that No Fenol can cause a tremendous yeast die-off > > > > reaction at first.
