Guest guest
Hi Everyone, I was just catching up on the posts and noticed a lot of responses about the delay of their child's gross motor skills but advancement of fine motor skills. This is the case with , too. He's not very interested in standing or crawling at nearly 10 months but boy can he eat Cheerios like a Pro! was born 5 weeks early and we were told to expect some developmental delays. But I'm wondering if there is any link whatsoever to Plagio. I'm certainly not a doctor or medical professional, but it seems like quite a coincidence that so many other parents are experiencing similar situations. I do, however, agree with everyone that all children are different and develop at their own pace. Even if slight delays in gross motor skill development can be attributed to Plagio, it's just something that our little ones will most likely catch up with in time. Just a few thoughts, e 4/00 Gaylord, Michigan
Guest guest
My daughter, Tatijana was diagnosed with Plagio at 8 months and found to have delay in her fine motor skills we began working with a therapist and she has come 100% from when she started a year ago. We just had her reevaluated about a week after she got her band. I was concerned about her speech now instead of her motor skills. She was not using the words that I know she knows. We got the results of her reeval for early intervention today and she has a 25% delay in speech. Since her reeval she has started talking a lot more and it has become a lot more clear. This has happened in the last few days. In my opinion I think that the band has helped with this. She is 19 months old and in Three weeks time her head shape has changed dramatically. I think that there is a connection with some of the developmental delay and having plagio. Guest guest
e: I think the delays are present in a lot of kids these days - and not just plagio kids. The babies with tort are certainly at more risk to delays, but I think the main contributor is back sleeping. When babies slept on their tummies, they had to lift their heads, get up on those elbows, etc. to look around. By doing this, they were working all of the upper body muscles at early ages. With babies on their backs all the time, it's really a lot easier to see stuff. That's why tummy time is so important for ALL babies. I have 6 nieces/nephews. 1/2 were "on schedule" with everything, and 1/2 were "late". Have a great day and weekend! e 4/00 Gaylord, Michigan

This sounds exactly like my son. Elijah is 9 1/2 mos old. He is great at sitting and cheerios are his favorite but not even close to crawling or walking. He also has trouble rolling over. How is doing these days? We see the neurologist for the first time on April 30th. The wait is killing me! Amy
Guest guest
e, my son Boris never rolled over, and crawled for a very short time, he could sit up at 9 months!(quite late) but he is walking since his first birthday!!!and he is great !I think, too, that due to beck sleeping they don't use their muscles very much, and we think something's wrong.Maybe we worry too much (I certenly do), because of the plagio. And as far as speech is concerned, he is very forward, he knows about 20 words at 16 months, and makes short sentencies. And he has moderate/severe plagio. Will be banded this friday.Don't worry to much, I am sure is just fine!
