Re: Fenol Issues - Symptoms?

Hi All,

Thanks Dana for the info.

Still not sure if my son has issues or not. He had

chronic runny stools for as long as I can remember,

but, has been PERFECT the last month since about a

month on Houston Enzymes (Peptizyde & Zyme Prime), he

can certainly get red ears, but not like he use too,

and he can be aggressive (lashes out if frustrated -

biting, pulling hair, hitting, grabbing, pinching).

Heck is is 3 1/2! ;-) He loves fruits and veggies

and I do give him lots on the HIGH FENOL list.

So, does anyone actually give ALL 3 Houston Enzymes at

one time? Chase gets Peptizyde and Zyme Prime, 1/4

teaspoon each, before breakfast/lunch/dinner.

Hi Lori,

I give all three enzymes mixed together in powder form with each meal and

No-Fenol alone with all fruits snacks. I Started with the other two and then

put him on CFGF diet because although I saw improvement with enzymes, he still

was too spacey.

Then I added No-Fenol and for us, No-fFenol is by far the most effective

enzyme. I too like many waited to add that one to my son's diet but saw the

most benefit from it. I have started taking No-Fenol myself and like it

Thanks Haleh,

Thinking I might order it next week and give it a

whirl! I am worried that some kids have shown

increased crankiness and aggression when taking No

Fenol. I certainly can't take more crankiness and

aggression!

Do things get better the longer the child is on it,

generally?

I know that's what happened with the other Houston

Enzymes Chase is on. We never saw the " Happy Child

effect " so many talk about...but, maybe the fenol

foods are still causing so much discomfort for him

that it would help??

For my son Peptizide produced hyperness and excessive stims but the problem

stopped after I reduced the dose. Maybe this is also true with No-Fenol for

some kids and it is just a mater of playing with the dosage most of the time

(not always though).

Best of luck

Hi Deanne

Re dark circles under eyes

Not Dana but . . . for my son it was definitely phenol intolerance but I

know that some people ascribe the dark circles to heavy metal toxicity and

others to an overload in systemic bacteria.

Good luck

That's something I didn't mention. Chase has always

had that too - not severe - but noticeable more at

some times than other times. His GI Dr told us its

due to chronic constipation!?! Guess it could be

several different reasons....

yeah for us its a combination - phenols, and toxic load - especially if he is

constipated his eyes are black

> Dana...my son has always had dark circles under his eyes. We are

trying all three enzymes now. We have been totally unable to detect

the cause as we have tried a restricted diet too. He eats a wide range

of foods. I noted that phenol intolerance can cause this...but can any

food intolerance cause this?

Yes

>>If there is no change with restricted diet or enzymes...do you have

any further input on cause.

For my son, it had lots of causes. Several deficiencies caused dark

circles, yeast and virus issues caused them, someone mentioned

constipation. There are lots of things that can cause dark circles,

altho phenol intolerance [and certain other foods] are the most common.

The allergists used to call these " allergic shiners. " They can come from food

allergies or

inhalant allergies.
