Guest guest
First, what in the world is an RN doing prescribing. It's bad enough when GP's do, they don't know enough about these drugs to use wisely, much less a nurse. The other part, is that if he is truly ADD, get him to a neurologist. Now this is personal opinion, but as an advocate for exceptional children, I truly believe only, only neurologists should be diagnosing and treating a neurological condition. If he is having mania as a result of the meds, the situation is truly complicated. He needs really good medical care, and an integrated approach, not just whoever is available that day. Best of luck to you, especially with a child in the house.
Guest guest
Peggy My heart goes out to you for what the poison has done to your life. I can't tell you how long it will take and the only suggestion I can give you is to see if he will try Noni Juice. I don't know for sure it works but I was told about it by Dr Ann Blake . I think she said about a cup a day. I will warn you it is a little bit expensive and it tastes NASTY. I also must say I'm proud of you for seeking the truth and standing by him. Did the Dr that prescribed the Zoloft know about the other episode? Has he been checked for a sleeping disorder? There is an article here somewhere about sleeping disorders and ADHD. Guest guest
Peggy, It's the drugs. go check out www.alternativementalhealth.com and www.acam.org and find a doctor that will wean him off the crap. Jim I just don't know where to turn at this point. I am 53yrs living wihth boyfriend 17yrs. Both of us raising my now 10.5 year old granddaghter since she was 2. My boyfirend has ADHD. 9 years ago they put him on a tricyclic antidepressant and he went manic. The psych would not talk with me and he did not see it during med checks. My boyfriend who is a hard worker, much a home body, doesn't drink, or go out. Last time he was drinking, met a girl. His behavior was crazy, buying, going out, telling me I was old, he wanted children etc etc. When I finally convinced the psych to really talk with him he realized he was infact manic, took him off the meds and he came down. It was two months of hell. It is happening again. He has known this women for only three weeks, has been spending nights, wants me and my grandtr out of the house he wants to be free. He did realize on some level what was happenng and went off the meds cold turkey. That is when he really went manic. He has been off now for three weeks. He is very agitated, major panic attacks. He associates the anxiety with me and graddtr cause thats where he first experienced it. Does anyone know how long it will take for this drug to clear his system. I am not sure but I think it was about two to three weeks the last time. He was on a tricyclic the last time. This time it was SSRI Zoloft which I heard is worse. Tomorrow will be three weeks. He did come home last night. He said it was the first night he has been able to sleep in a long time. I think he may be comng down but not sure. He is claiming he is sleeping on this womens couch and has not had sex with her. Sometimes he seems in touch, but other times he is very agitated. Blames me for everything, then cries and tells me he does not want me to leave. he is living his life through music. Very much the same behavior as last time. I am trying not to challenge him, and let him know he is safe at home. can anyone advise me. Dear God I slept with him last night and I am terrified now. I felt like if I rejected him it would push him further away. please help anyone. The VA psych RN that prescribed this shit will not call me back after I told her she was responsible. I know for a fact my boyfiend signed a release for her to talk with me cause he told me he did. He has never been manic in his life except for these two times both while on antidepressants. There is no doubt this is chemical induced mania. I know I may be rambling but I feel manic sometimes myself. These two weeks have seemed like ten years. Guest guest
No he has not been checked for a sleeping disorder, but I think he has one. I also must tell youhe has been on valium and Xanax for years. He does not take them all the time though. H ereally does not abuse meds, he does not like to take them. I think thats what happened this time. He was suppsoed to take 2 zoloft a day, and three depakote. He said he never took the two zoloft, only one and only one depakote. He said they gave them to him a year ago. He opened his bottom desk drawer and it was filled with bottles of this shit, he never took it. Right now he is listening to the sterophonics in concert, The house is shaking, the song is Maybe Tomorrow I'll find my way home. This is so insane. I really think he is trying to find his way back home. He is feeding his emotions wiht music. I just have to try and not get angry at him, and keep my cool. I don't know if we will make it through this but I won't leave him like this. If anything happened I would never forgive myself. Peggy > > I just don't know where to turn at this point. Guest guest
This RN is a psych nurse that can prescribe. He has been seen by a neurologist. That is when this craziness began years ago. This guy cannot tolerate meds. He has managed to build a very successful business. He is very reclusive but so what, he functions. He is very moody but I have never really seen him depressed. I have always prepared really good meals, organic vegitables. I see only a homeopath. I take no presriptions meds, I don't even have medical insurance. I have had it with main steam medicine. No one will ever get near my granddaughter with another vaccine as long as there is a breath in my body. Peggy > > First, what in the world is an RN doing prescribing. Guest guest
Peggy, Maniais very common with SSRI's especially if hisliver enzymes P 450 system is not metabolizing the medication. My daughter is tapering off of Lexapro and at first when we tried to taper by 10% of her dose she was very manic and acted out of character. I had to slow downthe tapering to about 4% of her dose, for example she was on 20 Mg of lexapro so we tapered by .08 Mg to 19.2Mg forabout 3 to 4 weeks until she stabilized. I wonderig he is experiencing the ZAPS from the withdrawal, anxiety, moodiness, nightmares, and anger are all normal. It could takes months to stabilize if he just cold turkeyed. Unless is willing to slowly taper off this medication.............time is the only thing along with vitamins and healthy eating. --- cdvlcarpenter <cdvlcarpenter@...> wrote: > Peggy > My heart goes out to you for what the poison has > done to your life. > I can't tell you how long it will take and the only > suggestion I can > give you is to see if he will try Noni Juice. Guest guest
I don't have months to wait. I don't think he has been on it for that long. In fact I think he is coming down now. I also think he is begining to enjoy this fantasy. He clearly knows he is manic and he has can do something about it. He is chosing not too. He also knows I have no place to go so he can enjoy his ride. If I did not have my granddaughter I would be out of here. Thats what I did the last time and he snapped out of it pretty fast. Thats because I gave him another fantasy to think about. When I left the last time all the love songs took on a whole different meaning when I left. Last night he tried to make love to me again. He was still half asleep. I woke him up beore it got started. You should have seen his reaction. He was apalled when he saw who it was. I became very angry and asked him if it was me he was talking too. He said I was asleep. Thats when I told him I knew who the women was. That woke him up real fast. I even said her name. I think part of the fun was all the mystery. Now he has to do some thinking. He is very quiet this morning. I think he expected me to start an argument. I told him last night that it takes too to make a relationship work and two to trash one. I said so far you have had exclusive rights on the trashing. Then I said maybe you need a different fantasy to obess about and I walked out of the room. I really want to call this women but she deserves what she gets when he comes down off this high. I did some checking. She is a divorced bar fly who can't afford her mortage. I checked her out on line at the deed office. She got the house in a divorce and has remortaged it 5 times in four years. There is a mans name on the deed with hers as co owner and its not her ex-husband. He told me she had a twinkle in her eye when she looked at him. He should have looked close and he would have seen the twinkle was dollar signs. I can't help my ranting. I am so humiliated and angry. I road by her house this morning and all the shades are torn. I am spitting mad and I think he knows it. Peggy > > > I just don't know where to turn at this point. I > > am 53yrs living > > > wihth boyfriend 17yrs. Guest guest
I have to add that some people cold turkey off the meds and don't seem too worse for wear but others kill themselves or someone else and/or are permanently damaged so I would never recommend cold turkeying off psych drugs period. it's a dangerous game of russian roulette. JIm Peggy, Maniais very common with SSRI's especially if hisliver enzymes P 450 system is not metabolizing the medication. Guest guest
Jim, The last time this happened (9yrs) ago he went off the tricyclic and had no problem. This is very different. I am also concerned because he has been on valium, and Xanax for years. I am suspicious of the oxicodiene they put him on as well. In fact I think it was the pain killer and the benzo's that caused his depression in the first place. The thought did cross my mind that there may be permanent damage here as well. If fact I think his constant battle wiht anxiety was becasue of the benzo rebound effect. Is this waht you call self fulfilling prophecy. There is another problem I failed to mention. The granddatr I have guardianship of Father and girlfriend want to take guardianship back. My son is a two time felon, His girlfriend is very violent. He is also an alcholic not in recovery. They took me to court a few months ago to terminate the guardianship. My sons lawler told him to drop the cse and wait till they get married and he is off orobation. They are getting married tomorrow. I am scared to death if all of this blows up that the court will look at the two parent household and think that is the more stable place for her. If my son and his girlfriend get her they will leave the state. My son does not really want her. Its the controlling girlfriend. Three moenths ago my boyfirend paid out thousands for an attorney. Three weeks ago he told our neighbor he will neverr let my son get my granddtr. He is the one that raised her. Now three weeks later he wants us both gone and wants to spen the rest of his life with this women. Peggy > > > I just don't know where to turn at this point.
Guest guest
Hello Everyone, Glad to be in the group. My son is 4 years old and non-verbal. He has said a few words, but not everyday. He has been on a gf/cf diet for over one year. He has been on enzymes for close to the same amount of time. He has been on several different kinds. He doesn't have a formed stool. I more a stick blob. A small amount of undigested food appears in the stool. I have changed his enzyme to Zyme Prime after I started reading DeFelice's book. I don't think that any natural supplement that I give Cole is going to be truely effective until his gut is healed. Should I be giving him any other enzyme? He has been on probotics, but were out at the moment. Do you have a suggestion as to which one has had good reports. He has tried VSL for a couple of weeks but I didn't see any difference? Since being on the Zyme Prime his appitite has increase. Is there something in Zyme Prime that would cause him to eat more? Your help would be so appreciated. Thank you, (Mom to Cole)
Guest guest
HI, I would add Peptizyde to your enzyme routine now. The increased appetite is most likely due to the Zyme Prime helping him digest his food more so that he can eat better.
