This means that any nutrition your child is eating by foods or supplements, any medications, etc, will be absorbed by the charcoal and not the body. So you should not give it long term. Guest guest Posted September 11, 2006 Report Share Posted September 11, 2006 One of the uses of activated charcoal is as a remedy for poisoning--it absorbs the poison in the stomach before it can be absorbed into the blood. They just don't want you treating a poisoning victim yourself without first contacting poison control. Sensible advice.
