Selena,

I was recommended to use Pro EFA by Kathleen who informed me that seemingly it

promotes language in aprexic children. I have tried it but not long enough. I

stopped because I had added too many new things to know what was doing what.

I have ordered Pro EFA again and will start perhaps by tonight if it arrived.

I am doing that because of recommendation of several parents whose children

have benefitted and I don't want to deprive my child from anything that may be

useful that we can afford. As far as Omega 3 and EFAs are concerned, there is

a lot of studies that indicated that they do help not only autistic and ADD

kids but the general population as well, so we are going on it as whole

family.

I hope others with more concrert result or longer experience respond to you as

well.

Best,

Haleh

J. + can nutrition help? This article is about fatty

acids.

When my son was 3 years - 4 years old, no one could understand a

word he said. Sometimes his older brother was the only one who

could translate! We were living in an area where there was only one

speech therapist... she did an excellent review on my son and gave

me around two hundred pages of pictograms/letter sounds that he

needed to work on. Then she moved! Everyday for a year, we spent a

half hour to an hour working on this stack of papers. Over and

over. When he said things that I could understand, I would repeat

them...(not making him repeat them, but I would say them to him

again so he could hear the correct pronunciation.) My son also had a

wonderful and caring preschool teacher who would squat down, look

him in the eye and talk with him and also repeat things. My son

always had a thick patch of dry skin on his head. He was addicted

to wheat and dairy. I knew nothing of the biomedical approach back

then... and I am so sorry that I did not! Anyway, the fatty acids

are very important. Also speech therapy that is done in a

respectful and caring way. I was extremly positive and

enthusiastic of his accomplishments. Everyday I gave my son a little

toy when he had finished his speech work. Now, when he does not

rush too much in talking, he speaks beautifully. Good luck to

you... you are on the right track! PS Get his hearing checked if

you have not already done this. We did and it was clear that his

hearing was good... helps to rule this out.

Hi Amber,

Well Selena's original question about fish oil has produced a great

deal of new info to process. I really don't want to give any wrong

advice. I am also trying to get more info on CLO etc.

Sorry, just when I thought I had it all figured out! :-)

Good luck sorting out the right path.

I bought some at the Vitamin Shoppe as well when i ran out of the one i ordered

online from Nordic Naturals and they had some better tasting flavors available.

My son liked the tutti-fruiti one. He definately showed signs of improvement on

his speech and his melt-downs were signficantly decreased. But i have also

recently added in enzymes and super nu-thera which has changed some of his

behavior during the trial period. So its hard to say right now if it is truly

still working or not. I guess I will see in a couple of weeks after the other

symptoms subside from the other things i have added in.

I bought mine from the Vitamin Shoppe and Wellspring

Grocery Stores. You can also got to Nordic Naturals

website, and it will give you a retail locator for

your area. Most Herbal stores have it though.
