Guest guest
Does anyone have any advice for me on this? My almost 5 yr old asd son obsesses over little objects. Just now, he had 2 tiny pieces of lego, he kept handing them to me to snap them together, so I did and handed them back to him, and he would pull them apart and hand them back to me to be put back together, and so on... After about 30 or 40 times, I finally put them in my pocket hoping he would forget about them (if I didn't, it would go on and on and on...) He threw himself on my bed, and screamed, and cried hysterically for a good 20 minutes or more. This is typical at my house. It's very hard to deal with him- he's non- verbal so you can't tell him to stop or reason with him because he doesn't understand you. Any advice would be really appreciated, because I just don't know what to do when he melts down like that. Thanks.
