Guest guest
, I hardly understand any of this, but I don't think it is always as simple as not getting colds, etc. My limited understanding is this. Our body should be able to shift back and forth between th1 and th2 responses as necessary. Many, perhaps most, of our kids would be stuck far too often on the th2 side, but that doesn't mean that all of their responses would be th2 responses. Also, I believe that eventually both types of responses become weaker and weaker, which would explain some of the fluctuating symptoms. Both of these above points would depend on how severely their immune system is compromised, I would think. It could be that any child who still has yeast or whose autistic symptoms are partially a result of viruses remains on the Th2 side too often. I think too that much of what we do in terms of supping is helping to address this th1/th2 imbalance (probiotics, colostrum, IP6, fatty acids, etc.) By doing this we might be getting some sort of back and forth effect. I don't know of course, but I don't think that the th1/th2 thing, eventhough it is called a balance, can be thought of like a teetertotter in that if one goes up the other goes down. I think it is complicated and in our kids, who get a lot of help and also suffer a lot of setbacks, even more complicated. Please don't take what I'm saying in the spirit of corrections. LIke I said, I really don't understand this stuff well at all and I'm just bouncing ideas. I'm not even sure if any of this makes sense. But, on the bright side, it has convinced me that it worth a shot to talk to my ped about getting a script for LDN (I've been wavering for a while, speaking of teetertotters).
