Guest guest
Okay....I am really new here....and my son is not on Enzymes (yet...not sure what to start with and what plan to follow), but my son (PDD-NOS and high functioning) is in Pre-school at the local Public Elementary school (he started Jan 18, 2005 - 4 days after he turned 3) He turned 4 in Jan of 2006 (duh....I suppose all could do the math) but I am very very pleased with the Special Ed that he is getting (I am trying to get him more OT. I would say it really depends where you are and what the quality of your school district is. I know it can vary from town to town....I am so very pleased with how they handle everything with my son and pretty much all Special Ed....His teacher is phenomenal....the Speech Pathologist is in the room most of the time too...and there are 3 additional Aides (he has 10 in his class)...they go to Gym, Music, Library which is super to teach about transitioning outside of the classroom. He is socializing with his peers so much more than he ever has, it is most likely a mixture of maturation and therapy/assistance/and mommy working hard at keeping up on stuff they do at school. I wonder how much more I would see if I did Enzymes??? I want to start but I am nervous I guess....I think he has some allergy to something that is in standard fruit snacks, it seems if he eats those, his diapers are TERRIBLE....anyway, I am soooooo happy with the Public School....I have friends with all their kids in Private (none are diagnosed special needs....although I have thoughts one might be....I mean how many 18 month olds do you know that know all 50 states and capitals...she is now 4 and reading level 2 and 3 books....I would say there is something freaky about that....) but the private I see is more based on money....get many kids, lots of money and not as individual attention...My son is focused on, he has an IEP so they are teaching him exactly how and what he needs. There is my 2 cents Darci I know that this a vague question. My son is making improvements, he is very social with adults and family but seems to not show much interest in his peers. I want to facilitate this growth. I have to admit he is not around other children one on one often. I wanted to know if others saw improvement in this after enzymes, or B12 or chelation. Or if this only happenend after total recovery. Any info is greatly appreciated. Also do many of your little ones benefit from school district preschools or private preschools. thanks selena
Guest guest
Hi Selena, my son has not started any major biomed therapies yet. My personal feeling on the social stuff with kids is maybe your son is more social with adults because he knows them and is comfortable. Which could happen in time with peers if he is around them enough. If the interest in social is there which it sounds like it is, increased exposure to other kids could help that. My son goes to a specialized preschool through our local ESD and he has a little buddy now when he gets on the bus they do not interact like other kids would but you can tell they are excited to see each other and acknowledge each other. He also goes to daycare 2 days a week(when I work) and the sitter said he is now playing with a little girl there that is his age, he doesn't initiate but he does play if she does. A few months ago he was locking her in a bear hug and pulling her to the ground. It seems like from what I've read, what we put in their bodies to help. and what we do with them to relearn works together to equal recovery. Best of luck. Libby (PS: He is on enzymes, GFCF, and today we started a good vitamin) what helps with social engagement with peers. sorry if this vague I know that this a vague question. For my son, I saw increase in this area with B vitamins, vitamin C, EFAs, and anti-virals. Dana
