Has anyone here tried the giftsofnature gluten free oats? On their website, it

says that gluten

tests 10PPM or less. I'm wondering if that's low enough that I shouldn't worry

with AFP. I

really want to work on gut healing and don't want to compromise it, but my son

keeps asking

for oats.

Also, I'm wondering how many of you have had to remove soy. I was going to try

a new

cheese that has soy, but don't really want to if there's a good chance that I'll

have to stop

because DS should be off soy, too.

Thanks

Celiac websites say that oats may not contain gluten but that until

that's certain at the moment it's safest to steer clear of them. But

that is celiacs who cannot be helped by enzymes. Why are you reluctant

to be doubly sure and give the AFP? Is it the cost?

My main concern is just stressing the gut.

I don't think there is any exact number of ppm or grams of gluten that

is 'okay' with any particular enzyme. It depends on the person's

sensitivity, the product, and the overall food. This test may not mean

that there is up to 10 ppm or less of gluten in the oats...it could

mean the test was only able to test as low as 10ppm, and if there

isn't a value registered there may be lower than 10ppm but the test is

not able to detect it. Make sense?

>>>I really want to work on gut healing and don't want to compromise

it, but my son keeps asking for oats.

I think oats are really good healing the gut. I even found some

research on diets with oats improving gut healing. Personally, I

wanted better gut health, so we ate lots of oats. I know oats are said

to be okay for celiacs now (the gluten celiacs are supposed to avoid

is not in oats), but it is still up to each person to determine if

eating oats is right for them.
