Blue Ice noted in previous post:

http://www.drrons.com/cod-liver-oil.htm

Hi ,

Seems like Nordic Naturals also has an Arctic Cod Liver Oil cap that

has similar EPA and DHA content as the Blue Ice BUT very low vitamin

A and D. Also a few other choices with varying amounts of A & D, I

only noted some here.

this info is from the Kirkman catalog dated 2005

Nordic Naturals Artic Cod Liver oil:

2 gel caps:

Vitamin A 350-780 IU

Vitamin D 0-16 IU

Vitamin E 33 IU

DHA 280 mg

EPA 180 mg

other omega 3 100 mg

This two noted here are from the Nordic Naturals website:

https://www.nordicnaturals.com/direct/prodsummary.asp?ID=8

Nordic Naturals Artic Cod Liver oil liquid

Each teaspoon provides:

DHA: 625 mg Vitamin A: 1500–2750 IU

EPA: 410 mg Vitamin D: 5–40 IU

Other Omega-3s: 225 mg Vitamin E (mixed tocopherols): 5 IU

Nordic Naturals Artic Cod Liver oil:

Each 2 soft gel serving provides:

DHA: 250 mg Vitamin A: 600–1100 IU

EPA: 164 mg Vitamin D: 2–16 IU

Other Omega-3s: 90 mg Vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol): 30 IU

Please post any info you find out.

Robyn

Does Dr. Ron's have an assay for metal content that he/they share? That is

the other piece of the puzzle. I am interested in this product. Can you

provide a link?

TIA,

Suze, If you find something with higher EPA/DHA than this please

post. My kids really prefer the capsules.

Robyn

Dr. Ron's Ultra-Pure Cod Liver Oil contains no synthetic or soy-

based antioxidants. Instead, we use the natural antioxidant rosemary

oil. Add natural organic flavoring oils, and the result is our full-

vitamin, premium quality, great tasting old-fashioned cod liver oil.

Nutrition Information: One-half teaspoon provides:

Vitamin A 5750 IUs EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) 145 - 375 mg

Vitamin D 575 IUs DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) 150 - 360 mg

One capsule provides:

Vitamin A 2500 IUs EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) 150 mg

Vitamin D 250 IUs DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) 100 mg

Rosemary Oil is used in all Dr. Ron's cod liver oils as a natural

antioxidant.

We also carry Carlson's Lemon-Flavored Cod Liver Oil (500 ml) and

soft gel capsules (1000 mg, 250 per bottle).

Kirkman's also provides clo without soy and

contaminants of heavy metal-excellent source. I

believe you can find it at kirkmanlabs.com

Yikes! With such low A and D content, it seems kinda pointless to take this

rather than simply taking fish oil.

Same comment as above.

Also, the ratio of A to D is not good. In this latter product the ratio of A

to D ranges from 300:1 to 69:1. Vits A and D are antagonist, synergistic and

additive. If there is too much A and neglibable D, it could have harmful

effects. I will post more details about this when my friend's article is

published, but I can't yet share the research he's shared with me until

after publication, as it wouldn't be fair to him. In any event, they should

be in a much lower ratio. Blue Ice has a ratio of 10:1 A to D. Some think

this should be further lowered by eating vitamin D-rich foods. Or

supplementing extra D. I haven't yet seen another CLO with a lower ratio,

(AND that has reasonably high amounts of A and D AND contains natural

vitamins, etc).

An assay will be posted to the Greenpasture.org website next month. But I

can tell you it's as free of contaminats, if not more so than any other CLO

on the market. I'm in contact with the North American distributor (I plan to

distribute it myself - I think it's a grea product!) and will post more info

soon.
