Dear Chidi,

I am so sorry that you are going through this. All I can tell you is this this

a billigerent case of racism and legally you and your wife both should be

eliigeblae for geen cards and so to deny any of you visa, is to deny your

child, a US born citizen, recieving medical attention in his own country.

Here is what I will do. I will call both Dave Waldon as well as Dan Burton,

two congressmen in the US known for their support of parents of autistic

children and at least talk to their staff and urge them to bring this case to

their attention.

I also will write an email and send it to the embasador and will try to do

this the first chance I get this coming week. I will then send you a copy of

it.

Again, I am so sorry you have to go through this and as a person who have seen

numerous incidents of discrimination, I find this applalling and will apeal to

others in this group as well as other groups to take similar actions.

Do I have your permission to forward your email to other autism group?

Best wishes,

Haleh

Please write an email to the American Ambassador bringing to his attention

that an ill child of American citizenship has been denied the best available

treatment opportunity for his ailment by the consulate's denial of visa to his

mother, and that no child should be denied such opportunity. Make it short and

concise and CC a copy to the consulate. The email addresses are on the bottom

of this email.

Thank you Amber.

Heleh,

Many thanks for your kind support. You have our permission to do what ever you

think is neccessary to support us in getting treatment for our Son. It will be a

tragedy if Chidi Jnr is unable to get the treatment he needs...an we are paying

from our

resources.

Many many thanks for your help and God bless u and yours always.

Chidi, I sent you a copy of an e-mail that I sent to the Ambassador in Nigeria,

and I also

have faxed a letter to Rep. Dave Weldon. Although I am in a different district

than he

represents, at least we are both in FL. In case anybody else wants to send a fax

to his

office, the Washington fax number is 202-225-3516 and his Melbourne office is

321-639-8595. I also sent as page 2 of the fax a copy of Mr. Isuwah's original

request to

our group. I hope it isn't too late! A copy of the letter is below:

TO: Congressman Weldon and Staff TIME-CRITICAL

From: Rev. Kathleen Eickwort, FL, USA

Date: March 31, 2006

Because of Congressman's Weldon's compassion for children with autism and their

families I am writing to ask if he or one of his staff could intervene in

getting a

compassionate visa for one of the Nigerian parents of this child, Chidi Izuwah,

Jr. who is

an American citizen with a complex neurodevelopmental disorder, to come to the

United

States for medical consultation and education regarding the best treatment of

his illness.

Chidi was born while his father was in Houston working with Shell Oil.

It makes no sense at all to me that this child's mother would have been denied a

Visa and

counseled to take him to South Africa or France for treatment. My own grandson

is

making an awesome recovery using the methods used in this country, and I know

how

time-critical this can be. The mother wants to attend a conference in

Washington in early

April and then has an appointment with Dr. Mumper in Virginia with her

child.

This child is an American citizen! Surely his parents can bring him here for

medical care

and education!

Please call the US Ambassador or the Consulate and help get Mrs. Izuwah her

Visa. This

family is paying for their own medical care and transportation and there is no

reason to

keep them out.

Thank you in advance for your consideration.

Peace,

(Rev.) Kathleen R. Eickwort, PhD

All,

Good day. Doris and I on behalf of Chidi Jnr would like to express our

gratitude to all who did write to the US Embassy on our behalf. We have not

received any acknowledgement or response from the embassy or consulate till

date. In the heat of all this effort I seem to have lost sight of the fact that

I have a US Visa....in order not Chidi Jnr his best chance of recovery...I have

applied for and my employers have kindly granted me an precented 2 wks leave of

absence. I view of this, I will be taking Chidi Jnr to Washington for the DAN

conference and to have his Doctors appointments. This is not our preferred

option or outcome, since Doris is more professional qualified as a Doctor and

for the last 4 yrs has not worked full time becos of looking after Chidi. Am not

sure how well i will do in these circumastances, but I trust that nothing beats

the passion of a father or mother.

I need further guidance and would like some help. During the conference I

would be staying in Lorton Virginia as follows:

Hello Chidi,

Many of us work to recover our children without the help of a

knowledgeable doctor. I am one of those people. One of the best

places to get help in doing this is the autism treatment group.

There you can learn about chelating safely, if that is a treatment

your son needs /

Autism-mercury and this group are in my opinion two of the best

places on the web to get good information.

DAN! doctors can be very helpful, but based on reading thousands of

posts from parents, we must research all of our own decisions. An

example of this kind of situation would be a post from last night

where a member of this group was told to give her child DMSA twice a

day at a very high dose. At the autism treatment group I explained to

Libby why this would be dangerous for her child. The doctor had

also not taken into account that her child had amalgam fillings. Her

research is already paying off.

I am in Canada where we have some difficulty accessing the services

and goods we need to treat our children with autism. I have put

together a document to help people who are new to biomedical

treatments for autism that might be some small help to you as well.

If you are interested in it, please email me and I would be happy to

forward it to you.

I wish you and your family the best.

I hope to reply in more detail later this evening.

I don't know anything about good childcare near Lorton; but I do know

something about the commute to the conference from there and will be happy

to send some information as well as the link to the local autism society if

I can find it.

(I too will be at the conference; I live locally)

I do not post often to this list, but I will be attending the DAN!

conference in Washington D.C beginning Thursday evening and leaving

Sunday evening. If I can help in any way please let me know. You

may want to contact the Virginia Autism Resource Center and they may

have knowledge of respite providers or an organization where you

could obtain a list of providers in the area you will be staying. I

personally am from S.E. Virginia and am not familiar with the area

in which you will be staying.

It appears that Northern Virginia has it's own division of ARC.

http://www.thearcofnova.org/

This is also the website for the Austism Society of America's

Northern Virginia Chapter. It appears in their member resources

section to have a portion on respite.

http://asanv.org/

Hope this helps!
