Take it easy . Don't push him, as he will get more used to it as

the days/weeks pass. It's a good sign that he will nap in it. Don't

give in too easy at bedtime (or he'll learn that if he fusses enough

you'll take it off), but if he's truly not happy, leave it for another

nite!

Good luck

Hi - my had a hard time sleeping in it too. But keep going. When he has a hard time sleeping - I immediately think its his hat and take it off. Well - when he didn't start sleeping any better without it - I realized he just wanted in my bed!!! If he is doing fine at nap time with it - then it probably isn't the band bothering him! started sleeping through the night at 2 months - and did up till 6 months. The day we went to have his head checked and they said he would need a helmet - that night started a whole new ball game. He started waking up screaming about 16 times a night. We even consulted a sleep specialist who said that when babies hit the age where they are learning to sit up, and crawl, etc... that it will sometimes interupt their sleep. He basically said it was a phase - and he would outgrow it. Well, the screaming lasted 35 days. From then on he just woke up fussing and crying about 8 to 14 times a night. Last month he finally went down to getting up only 3 to 5 times a night. It is really sad when you've been up that many times and thank the lord for a good nights sleep!!! For the past 2 weeks, not only has he been waking up - but now he insists on being in my bed - and screams until he gets there! Then out of the blue - he has slept through the night the past 2 nights. I am probably jinxing myself by saying it out loud!! My doctors all said that if it was the band bothering him - he would be pulling and digging at it. If your is digging at the band - definately get it checked. If not, then maybe he is just in this stage as well. I have spoke with many moms who have said that at this age - there are many sleepless nights!

Hope this helps!~

KIM!!!

I agree with you completely. My daughter, Caroline, was such a good sleeper and then right after she got her first band (at 8 months old) she started waking up and I thought it was the band. But she had no problems with it throughout the day and naps. Then I read a book by Dr. Brazelton about how some babies start waking up when their fine motor skills start improving (i.e. start crawling, pulling up to stand, etc.). It's like they wake up and have a great urge to practice their skills and cry to be taken out of their cribs! It almost drove me crazy! She finally outgrew that stage. I don't think it was due to the band at all, but it was just a coincidence that it started right after she got the band, or maybe the band kind of woke her up enough for her "urge" to get going kiched in, whereas normally she would not wake up fully and go right back to sleep. Anyway, good luck to everyone who gets woken up so much -- it sure is hard on you, isn't it?

Oh, yeah, she was without a band for two months then got her second band and this time she woke up a couple of times because I think she was getting hot. I had her dressed in her usual pjs -- a blanket sleeper, but since she had the band on her head she got all hot and sweaty so I had to turn dress her in lighter pajamas until she got her "internal thermostat" used to having the band on -- then she got cold and I had to pull the blanket sleeper back out! Nothing's easy these days!!
