Guest guest
Hi Kim, Unbelieveable, when I read your post I had to laugh. Sounds exactly like my story with . He also wakes up almost every hour until he ends up in my bed. He used to sleep through the night also until he reached about 6 months. I can't even remember the last time I had a whole nights sleep. He did sleep in his helmet for 3 hours last night. I guess i will work up slowly, but i feel like i can't start pushing the sleeping through the night in his own crib right now because of the helmet. Don't want to change too many things at once. Thanks and ----- Original Message ----- From: & Kim Plagiocephaly Sent: Friday, January 26, 2001 10:19 AM Subject: RE: sleep time Hi - my had a hard time sleeping in it too. But keep going. When he has a hard time sleeping - I immediately think its his hat and take it off. Well - when he didn't start sleeping any better without it - I realized he just wanted in my bed!!! If he is doing fine at nap time with it - then it probably isn't the band bothering him! started sleeping through the night at 2 months - and did up till 6 months. The day we went to have his head checked and they said he would need a helmet - that night started a whole new ball game. He started waking up screaming about 16 times a night. We even consulted a sleep specialist who said that when babies hit the age where they are learning to sit up, and crawl, etc... that it will sometimes interupt their sleep. He basically said it was a phase - and he would outgrow it. Well, the screaming lasted 35 days. From then on he just woke up fussing and crying about 8 to 14 times a night. Last month he finally went down to getting up only 3 to 5 times a night. It is really sad when you've been up that many times and thank the lord for a good nights sleep!!! For the past 2 weeks, not only has he been waking up - but now he insists on being in my bed - and screams until he gets there! Then out of the blue - he has slept through the night the past 2 nights. I am probably jinxing myself by saying it out loud!! My doctors all said that if it was the band bothering him - he would be pulling and digging at it. If your is digging at the band - definately get it checked. If not, then maybe he is just in this stage as well. I have spoke with many moms who have said that at this age - there are many sleepless nights! Hope this helps!~ Kim and -----Original Message-----From: Fischer [mailto:fischer_shelley@...]Sent: Thursday, January 25, 2001 3:43 PMPlagiocephalyegroupsSubject: sleep time Hi everyone, Does anyone have any advise on how to get to sleep in his helmet. Guest guest
I wouldn't push sleeping in his crib either. I let come to our bed everynight. I figure that babies cry for a reason - and if you just let them cry themselves to sleep, the only thing you are teaching them is that you won't be there. Just my opinion, so I pray that I do not get bombarded with e-mails about this! I am not saying that parents who do that is wrong - my ped tells me to do that, I am just saying that it is not right for me and . You reach that point where you need some sleep too. This is going to sound crazy - but man has it helped. I read in a magazine, that if you have tried everything else to get your kid to sleep and nothing works - try putting him to bed an hour earlier. Well, by this point I was willing to try anything!!! It worked!!!! He is sleeping through the night!!! (Maybe waking up once - I give him his pacifier and he goes right back to sleep -in his bed!! I don't even get him out!) He may wake up two times a week - but for the most part he is sleeping through the night again!!! I guess I was letting him get too tired, then he was so wiped out he couldn't sleep. Also - I do not have to rock him to sleep anymore! He lays down and I turn on his kick and play piano where it plays a song for @ 5 minutes. By the time the song is over - he is out! He is also taking a longer nap in the day! It took 2 days of putting him down earlier - and it is wonderful!! It's worth a try!!
