Guest guest
, It's a little hard to say. Maybe more time; maybe dairy is part of the problem, just not the entire problem. Since the stools are stinky and mushy, consider a probiotic if you aren't giving one at the moment. Then do a trial of enzymes to see if that helps with all foods eaten (whether you decide to try dairy again or not). You did see some change so it did tell you digestion has something to do with it. .
Guest guest
My asd son is almost 5 yrs. old and has always been mushy. We went GFCF, and removed foods all the way down to chicken and potatoes. He takes all 3 of Houston enzymes, a handful of kirkman supplements including CLO, and kirkmans pro-bio gold pro-biotic. Tomorrow we start him Nystatin to fight yeast overgrowth- I am hoping to see improvement in his sleeping (which we have always had problems with also) and in his mushy poop consistancy. If you figure out something that improves the mushy poop, please share. Thanks. Amber. On 1/1/06, jornmatt <snowbear@...> wrote: > > , > > It's a little hard to say. It might be that, or he might have a problem with both milk AND the item you are now using. Or it might be a combination of, for example, milk, the new item, AND bad bacteria [which usually causes mushy, smelly bms]. Dana
Guest guest
my son has never had solid stools and gastroentrologist has never seen as a problem. I am concerned and want to know if anyone can offer info on what kind of bacteria or deficiencies cause this???? Also severe reflux and enzymes, any thought or sugestions. Also is Dr. Megson a good DAN doctor, looking for someone close to raleigh and she seems only one I have read more on. __________________________________________ DSL – Something to write home about. Guest guest
Dr. Megson is one of the most reputable DAN drs and parents whose child is treated by her really like her. I would not have any confidence on a GI doctor that does think mushy poop on regular or prolonged basis is not a problem. There are a lot of terribly incompetent drs in the medical field (mostly for the money) and don't update their info since med schools. Many of them don't even remember much of what they learned in school. I am not saying that this is definitely the case w/ this GI dr, but consider it a possibility. The human gut is an ecological system by its environment including its flora. In a healthy gut there is a balance between the good disease fighting bacteria and yeast and also like any other ecosystem, human gut can become infested with parasites, bad bacteria and yeast. ASD children very very oftern if not always, have a very out of balanced gut flora which is caused by maldigestion, malabsorption and other autoimmune issues. I would definitely go with dr Megson if I were within driving distance. Like all good DAN drs, she may have a very long waiting list. I am in Northern CA and the two reputable DANs here now have a 9 months waiting list. I used this list and others to learn how to help my child while I was waiting and continued using parent lists to address my questions even after we started seeing our DAN dr. Note worthy is that all that I learned from reading and from other parents helped my child and our DAN dr recommended to continue all of those interventions. If you are interested in a good book (based on DAN) that can answer your question, you can buy it here: http://www.autism-rxguidebook.com/DesktopDefault.aspx Hope I have answered you. Guest guest
Dr. Megson is a good doctor in my opinion. We fly out from California to see her twice a year. My son had chronic diarrhea until age 2 1/2 when we eliminated gluten and casein from his diet, overnight his poops were formed and we were then able to potty train him.
