my son is almost 9 months old and we just started the helmet 3 days

ago. only problem is i cant get him to wear it for more than 45

monutes. he flips out. i wish i would have started with the doc band

because it seems so much lighter. we just changed insurance companies

so we are going to try getting approved for the doc....but does it

make any difference? is it still going to be so hard on him in the

beginning? it seems better because with the helmet, u cant even see

his head at all and the doc seems more open. does anyone know if

this

is hurting them? i am afraid to hurt him, yet at the same time i am

worried if we don't do this. is their any possible bad side effects?

please anyone....e-mail me with any info/hope. iam so depressed about

all this. my son used to be called " the happy guy " by everyone

because

he was constantly smiling and flirting etc.... now he's a mess after

only 3 days. thanks for any help- lisabnetz@...

Bless your heart! It's rough getting used to this, even if the baby

DOESN'T fuss about the helmet/band! My daughter's in a DOC band, so I'm

afraid I can't offer you any words of wisdom about the helmet. Maybe

there's some part of the helmet that's rubbing your son's head/face and

that's why he's so unhappy - do yu see any " pink spots " that look ireal

rritated when you take it off? When got her band, I had to take

her back thenext day to have it adjusted a bit because it was rubbing.

Can your orthotist take a look at it to make sure it's not too tight

somewhere?

Does he fuss when you put it on after it's been off for a bit, or just

after he's had it on for a while? Maybe you could let him wear it for

half an hour and take it off for 10 minutes or so, and then put it back

on - then gradually increase the time he wears it. Don't know if that's

an option or not, but if it's just that he doesn't like it, maybe that

would help him adjust a bit better.

Good luck. Hoprfully you'll get some responses from some folks in a

helmet rather than a band, and they'll have some more/better ideas...
