Guest guest
Thank you. Does the dosage depend on weight? Guest guest
My son is on prescription carnitine. Yes, carnitine can smell very fishy.. If my son is getting ill or is slightly dehydrated he can smell fishy through his skin and his mouth. We were intially crushing the tablets. They were unbearably fishy. We have changed to the liquid flavored carnitine and it is much much better. So L-carnitine, over the counter, may have the same fishy smell issue. But for my son, the benefits far out weigh the cons of the smell. My son is hypotonic and I believe it has helped him with fatigue and muscle tone issues immensely. I have questions regarding the smell. You can email me off list if desired dawndimarco at msn.com thanks! Dawn

Carnitine was one of my son's " wonder supps " . It did have a fishy smell. If I gave too much, my son would smell fishy, especially his urine. But if I reduced the dose, he did not have that smell. Guest guest
I was giving him 1/4 tsp (0.93g) of L-Carnitine powder from Cardiovascular Research Ltd. and didn't remember any smell. Then we ran out and I ordered more at the same time my DAN! recommended going to 1/2 tsp. This bottle (same manuf) smells extremely fishy and my son had two days of fishy diarrhea, even when I backed down the dose. I've stopped in the meantime while the DAN! office tries to get info from the manuf > > Is anyone out there supplementing with L-carnitine? > > I have questions regarding the smell. > > > Carnitine was one of my son's " wonder supps " . Guest guest
If you wouldn't mind sharing the brand and/or ingredients of the flavored liquid? I'm a little leary of anything flavored or sweetened. > > From: dawndimarco <dawndimarco@...> > Subject: [ ] L-carnitine > > Date: Tuesday, December 2, 2008, 11:51 PM > > > > > > > Hello All, > Is anyone out there supplementing with L-carnitine? > I have questions regarding the smell. > You can email me off list if desired > dawndimarco at msn.com > > thanks! > Dawn > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
