with Melatonin. Not all Melatoinin is equal, only one type works on me :) I

use Kirkman Melatonin Plus capsules for Sam, for years a few grains would see

him flat out in 20 mins :) We use more now, s much for antoxidnat effect as he

is much bigger now

In one of the recent emails someone mentioned

melatonin. Has anyone found this helpful in getting

kids to sleep normally? My son has never been able to

get to sleep without several hours of laying in bed.

We've tried so many things, but I've never heard of

this. Does it work ok with the enzyme suppliments?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi, We have the same problem getting ds to sleep. It takes hours. we

ordered a sample size of the 3mg melatonin from kirkmans they have

1mg also but since benadryl does nothing for my son I figured he

would need the larger dose. They are chewable but he wouldn't eat it

so I crushed it and put it in his juice. He only drank 1/3 of the

glass and 15 minutes later he was out! The next night I cut the pill

in half. It took a little longer but not much. I haven't given him

anymore because I am saving it for next week to get him in the habit

of sleeping early for school which starts the following week. I

would like to know if there is any problem with using it more than

occasionally also. i.e. does it stop working after awhile? or can he

become dependent on it?

In the United States, it is on the label of the melantonin supplements.

My son 3, takes melatonin evey night 1mg. One pill cut in three part. It has

been helping accept since I started No-Phenol. I have been using it with

enzymes without a problem.

I went through 17 hours of 2005 DAN conference and I know it was recomended by

at least one of the very experienced DAN drs.

I have never heard of melatonin being bad for people with ammune disorder. If

that is true, then Turkey meat shouldn't be consumed either.

LOL, my family has trouble with turkey meat because of the amino

acids in it, high in tryptophan, I believe...makes us too sleepy.

Also gives me bladder pain, and my daughter gets migraines from it.

My daughter and I both have lupus, which of course is autoimmune. We

have duck for dinner on Thanksgiving. I guess it's up to you. I

didn't put the label warning on.

Also, fruits and vegetables are very good for you--all the research

says so--but I'm allergic to most of them. I get lupus flares and

other autoimmune symptoms. So it all depends.

Here's a good URL by a person who agrees with you and the parents who

are giving the melantonin. He or she seems to have done a lot of

research. The label warning seems to be based on a theoretical idea

about how melatonin works, from what I can see.

I have used it. It tends to give my kids very vivid dreams, and

about half the time when he takes it, my son will wake up several

times throughout the night and then get up before 6am usually My

daughter is usually very groggy and crabby throughout the next day

with dark circles under her eyes - and although she doesn't take a

nap she will usually fall asleep in the afternoon after she's taken

it the night before. I only use about 1/4 mg. for each of them. I

wouldn't give it every night, but if his sleep cycle is really off

you might try a little and see if it helps.

It definitely works to get them to sleep but sometimes backfires.
