Guest guest
do not take probiotics while taking nystatin, the nystatin kills them. I am not sure about the homeopathics... kennetheriklucy <eislerfamily@...> wrote: I am going to start my son on Nystatin on Monday. Heres what I know, Nystatin kills yeast, and pro-biotics are good yeast- so would the Nystatin kill the pro-biotic? Do you give a pro-biotic the same time you give Nystatin? Also GSE and oil of oregano kill yeast- so do you give those the same time as you give Nystatin? Also, my almost 5 yr old son, is up to chicken, potatoes, sorghum flour, pears, pinto beans, yellow beans, and today I started him on chick peas. .... You can, or give them apart. The combination might cause severe die off symptoms, so have activated charcoal on hand, and give it 30-45 minutes after the yeast killer if you notice nasty die off symptoms. > Also, my almost 5 yr old son, is up to chicken, potatoes, sorghum > flour, pears, pinto beans, yellow beans, and today I started him on > chick peas. > Lately, we've noticed that he's eating A LOT. This can mean food intolerance or yeast. Try addressing the yeast first, see if that helps. Since he has a few new foods now, try dropping the potatoes, which feed yeast. Guest guest
I don't have any activated charcoal. I am starting on Nystatin on Monday, and don't have time to order any in. Is there a good brand that the health food store sells, or is there some kind of alternative that works? Also, in bed last night, was pulling his legs up like he was uncomfortable- I am removing potatoes now. Thanks, Dana. Amber. Guest guest
Why is there conflicting info out there about this, I have always heard the other, frommy DAN doc and online. danasview <danasview@...> wrote: > > I am going to start my son on Nystatin on Monday. If you don't mind me interjecting, all of these foods but the chicken would definitely promote yeast in my kids. My son has more problems with yeast from things like potatoes and the alternative flours than actual sugar. The constant eating is usually a sign of pretty serious yeast as well as bloating. But my kids also don't tolerate legumes at all, which as you probably know, are pretty well known to cause bloating and gas in anyone. Is he taking zyme prime with all those, at least? My kids can occasionally tolerate small amounts of beans or potatoes with zyme prime and No Fenol (for yeast). Amy

Is there a good brand that the > health food store sells, or is there some kind of alternative that works? I have seen activated charcoal at my local health food store. I never had to use it tho, my kids don't have die off symptoms, they just improve. So I can't really recommend brands. But go to your health food store and see what might be there. Guest guest
We use Nature's Way activated charcoal. It's available at our hfs, GNC and I've seen it at one local pharmacy. My son doesn't swallow capsules so I open it and mix with applesauce - it's a very fine powder and can get all over everything, so be careful if you open the capsules. Guest guest
So, do you think that I should wait and see if he has die-off before going and looking for an activated charcoal? Also, do you think I should quit the GSE and oil of oregano completely while he's on the Nystatin, or just for the first week? How about the pro-biotic, I was going to continue giving him that, but should I take it out, too, also for the first week, or for the whole time he's on the Nystatin? Thanks. Amber. Guest guest
> > So, do you think that I should wait and see if he has die-off before going > and looking for an activated charcoal? Well, it is nice to have some on hand just in case the symptoms are severe. But I chose not to buy any unless I needed it, because I don't like spending money that I don't need to spend. > Also, do you think I should quit the GSE and oil of oregano completely while > he's on the Nystatin, or just for the first week? You might try removing them for the first few days of Nystatin, see if you notice that he does fine with Nystatin, or if he did better with GSE/OoO and you want to add those back. >>How about the pro-biotic, > I was going to continue giving him that, but should I take it out, too, > also for the first week, or for the whole time he's on the Nystatin? I would keep the probiotic. Dana
Guest guest
Dana, I took potatoes out of his diet 2 days ago, and last night he had 2 solid poops- well, fairly solid. The last 3 nights have been worse than normal for sleeping. I started the Nystatin this morning- he gets 5 mls. 3 times a day. I am continuing the pro-biotic, but have stopped the GSE and OoO, for now. I am holding off on introducing any new foods for a few days. Right now, he's eating chicken, pinto beans, yellow beans, chick peas, pears, sorghum flour, chick pea flour. What should be the next foods to re-introduce? We're thinking yellow squash, parsnips, plantains, turkey?? Thanks. Amber. Guest guest
Today is day #3 for the Nystatin. His cheeks are red, he's really hot, lethargic, red ring aroung bum hole, no more solid poop, and his sleeping is still just as terrible. In the next couple of days, if he is feeling better, I will re-introduce turkey, then do you think plantains, parsnips, and yellow squash, or is there a better food to go with next? Thanks. Amber. Try giving activated charcoal 30-45 minutes after the Nystatin, see if it helps. Give the Nystatin with No-Fenol enzyme, in case he does not tolerate it. >> In the next couple of days, if he is feeling better, I will > re-introduce turkey, then do you think plantains, parsnips, and yellow > squash, or is there a better food to go with next? At approx this point, I tried giving wheat with Peptizyde, and my son did really well with it. Oats also. So that expanded his diet enormously. Not sure you want to go there tho. You can try garfava flour and buckwheat flour, I used those for a while before I discovered that wheat worked. Dana
