She is getting casted Monday. I hope that her age 9 1/2 months will not work against us. It was a stressful decision, but All your advice helped us make it.THANKS BUNCHES.Stacey
Guest guest
Stacey... Just wanted to tell you that my daughter Aimee didn't get casted till she was almost 10 months old and didn't get a helmet till she was almost 11 months old and we have now been in it almost 2 months and we are seeing WONDERFUL improvement! I am glad that we put Aimee in a helmet and I am sure that you will be glad too...don't let the age factor worry you too much...you still have plenty of time! Guest guest
Hi Stacey, Good luck with the casting on Monday. Our son is 8 months old and we are still waiting for authorization for the band. I have the feeling by the time he gets it he will be 9 months. I, like you too are worried about his age and the effects. Im pretty much telling myself that Luke will have to wear 2 bands. Thats just what I seem to be reading and hearing about when kids are older and start the band. I figure it will be a pleasant surprise if he only has to wear one. Let me know how things go........ Im very nervous about the casting. Take care, Heidi & Luke (still waiting)

When younger you have the rapid head growth and they out grow them that much faster. I guess that is how I see it. My guy at the start of 6 months out grew his DOC Band in 7 1/2 weeks. We got our STAR Band right before his first birthday and are still aways from outgrowing that one. I bet we could get 4 months out of this band starting easily. The rapid head growth is what you want because changes happen very quickly. Hope for one and at 9 months I think you might be able to do it, of course depending on severity and growth! I may have read 2 emails of people who's kids are older and needed two bands. I just figured since he will have to wear it much longer he will eventually outgrow one and have to get another. I guess I should think more positive. Thanks for your opinion and good luck. Heidi
Guest guest
Each child is very different. Who knows what will come your way??? Hanna was just 6 months when she got her first (and only) band. She wore it for 5 months. Her head shape was severe.
