Hi and welcome. I will let someone else speak to your questions

since my daughter is in a locally made helmet rather than the DOC band. Just

wanted to say welcome and I'm glad that you have joined us!!

- Cool, another Wisconsin person. Not many but a few. Exactly where are you? I'm in Holmen, next to La Crosse. We made weekly trips to Madison last June and July. Kathy and are two of the nicest people to work with.

They'll give you lots of advise, you won't feel lost when leaving between the group and them. They'll give you phone numbers to call if a problem and don't be afraid to call. Look forward to hearing from you!

- Pink spots, hard answer. The band should hold the "bulges" and allow room for growth. If you are getting red spots where you need growth, that is where they trim away. If you are getting red spots on the holding area, not sure. We never got that. Any questions, call or ! We didn't have a big problem with red spots or skin breakdown.

I've been a lazy Mom. I don't do any decorating. I worry about stickers pealing off and well, lazy! Being winter and I don't work, we don't get out that much. I doesn't bother me in the least to leave it white. The STAR Band does give you decorated helmet options but I didn't like the idea of not always matching! OK, I'm annul. White is fine for me.

Work on naps and if they go good, try for nights. It took me only a few days to try the night thing. Some kids are more sensitive than others. You could always take it off at night if it didn't go well. Just keep an eye on those pink spots and they should go away. If not for long periods of time, call them.

Baily, Thanks for answering. Yep, so far they've been great. A few questions for you...

Will she always have the pink spots when we take the DOC off, or will her head get used to it and they won't be there anymore? seems to be doing great. She sleeps w/ it and it isn't bothering her at all. Her sister, , that's 17 months likes to pull on it, though.

Today I thought I'd do 2, 5 hours chunks. Then does she just skip up to the full 23? Please help w/ that. She slept in it all night last night. Also, did you decorate yours? I did stickers, but in the back, some of the edges are already coming up. Will nail polish hurt the DOC? Asked about it and she said nail polish wasn't necessary.

Oh, and we live in Monticello, which is 45 minutes south of Madison.

Thanks, and (1/17/01)
