Guest guest
Hi! I had posted a short while back in regards to my duaghter Sophie. Now I'm also concerned that her twin, Hanna, needs treatment. We have yet to have Sophie banded, but the more I research and find pictures of other children, they look like Hanna, whereas I have not seen many who look like Sophie, who is flat as a pancake on her entire back side and top coming to a point(Hanna is more right side flat, and ears misaligned). Anyway, we were at the ped. on Friday just to check Hanna for something unrelated, and he noticed that one of her eyes was wandering (strabismus?). I had not noticed until he mentioned it and he's right, now I'm obsessing, and wonder if the plagio has anything to do with it. I've read that plagio can cause eye probs. but have yet to find specifically what they are. Does anyone know if the two are related and what the ocular side effects plagio causes? Guest guest
WOW!! I never suspected to even hear from anyone. As I was posting, all I could think was that I sounded totally psychotic assuming there might be a connection between lazy eye and plagio. Now I feel awful that I devoted all my concerns to Sophie, when it is really Hanna who is the worse off. And to think I was just going to let her ride it out. Even our ped. said we should not wait very long to have her eyes checked because if we do, it could get to the point of loss of vision in the eye due to the brain shutting down that function. This opens up a whole new can of worms, especially because now I have two cases of plagio and both should be treated differently. Boy, is CIGNA going to love us! I wonder, will Hanna need to be banded and have her eye fixed? Well, I guess I shouldn't get ahead of myself. What are the chances of finding a doctor who believes the 2 are connected? It's hard enough finding one who believes in plagio treatment! Thanks for listening and contributing all the great advice. > : > > My neurosurgeon has all plagio cases checked out by a pediatric vision > specialist. They check for vision field neglect.
