Guest guest
It sounds to me like he's taking a vitamin formula with too much B6 in it for his needs, and possibly not enough minerals. Increasing minerals is usually calming. B vitamins, especially B6, are very helpful to the brain, helping it " connect " better, but can be too much of a good thing, and cause overactive behavior in excess. I would suggest increasing minerals by 25% and decreasing vitamins by 25%, and watch to see what you see for a day or two. If this helps some, that will confirm my suspicions, and you can call BrainChild and we'll arrange to get you a bottle of a lower-B6 formula of vitamins, which should work better for his needs. Btw, you really can't overdose minerals, so don't worry about the increased dosage, it's just to see if they might help calm him down. Guest guest
My son had a similar reaction to Brainchilds multi vitamin (mierals were fine and I just got the sensitive formula. Started really low and slow and then switched to support II which he now tolerates fine. It may be the TMG or maybe just the B vitamins. Good luck, Haleh > > I thought the enzymes had " plateaued " about 2 weeks ago; we have > seen amazing gains on them since the end of May, but the calmness > disappeared about 4 weeks ago. > > Ben has been hyper, ticcing/stimming, and has that hair-trigger > frustration/freakout reaction that is, in many ways, the single > hardest behavior for me to deal with. > > Then last weekend he unexpectedly spent 2 nights at my in-law's > house. Guest guest
Just echoing a couple things Haleh said: 1. Children are often later able to tolerate our higher formulas, after a few months of taking the lower ones. This is probably because the body is assimilating nutrients a little better. They also often start really growing again after a few months on the formulas, for the same reason, we think. 2. We find that it's much, much more often the B vitamins causing it than the TMG, when we see the overactive/anxious behaviors. 3. It is extremely common for the same kids who have some amount of overactive behavior when starting the supplements to be the same ones who have really nice gains, once we get the dose right and go slow enough introducing it. One of my kids had tics with yeast overgrowth, and B vitamins tend to feed yeast. Give a much lower dose of the BC vitamins, and give it with No-Fenol and probiotics, see if that helps.
