, I would like more info on her! I am seriously considering taking my dd to

her in the future. I am looking for a sort of 1 stop shopping to get help. Last

DAN I saw was Dr. Compart who is a 2 hour drive one way. She was very nice but I

had to then come home with all her requests for testing and take them to my

local ped and start the battle with him (took a long time) to write the tests up

for me. 6 months later I sort of gave up because my dd had started school and we

were inundated trying to make that a success. Anyway, I would like to know about

Dr. Megson, can you get the blood work and any other testing done at her

facility? She certainly does come highly recommended and even though I would

have to travel for it, I would not mind if I can get it all done so to speak

right there. Thanks, Jackie D.

Well, this is discouraging. I was hoping this was a place where I could go,

get some good testing done and depending on results come up with a game plan.

Right now I feel that I am all over the place, This is the first I have

It's my understanding, after reading replies from another board,

that Dr. Megson's treatment(s) work primarly for those with a family

history of night blindness and hypothyroidism (sp). That there is a

ratio of some 1 in 8 autistic children that see any real gains in

using the treatment.

Dr. Megson may not have found the " cure " for all autism.. just as

enzymes are not a cure all, nor is chelation, nor is this-that-or-

the-other-thing. But what she has done is address a particular

genetic predisposition with treatment. Just as a perhaps unknown

predisposition, along with an environmental assult, brings about gut

issues with autistic children, not all the genetics are the same.

For example:

1. Family history of night-blindness and or hypothyroidism, plus

environmental assult (EA) = Autism type A

2. History of Rhumatoid arthritis, plus EA, = Autism type B

3. History X plus EA = autism type C

And so on.

My mother had RA and my wife and her father suffer from anxiety

attacks. Somewhere in that mix, along with the mercury /

vaccinations, is what totals my son's AS / PDD. The question is

where do I focus treatment based on those conditions variables?

Thats what we all need to find out, imo.

There is a blood test that measures the Vit. A levels. In those

cases where great gains were made, it is my understanding that a

definate Vit. A deficiency existed in the child.

As Im sure you read, it is suspected that some AS children either do

not produce [at all or in large enough quanities] a protien needed

to convert this or that to the most common Vitamin A. This may be

one of the areas that these enzymes are helping... just a thought

though.

By using the Cod Liver Oil, which contains a trans-fatty Vit. A that

doesnt need to be converted, the body gets it's vit. A.. and stores

the excess. After there is enough stored up, you give the child

the " trigger " mentioned in the article (via prescription and

compounded). IF there is a true vit. A problem, just the CLO itself

will help.. granted it contains the CORRECT vit. A as mentioned in

the article (not all CLO products have the proper vit. A).

Please go to www.megson.com

copies of her testimony to congress, etc. are there. There seem to be some

misconceptions of how Vitamin A and Bethanechol ( Urecholine) work.
